..for getting my 3000th pageview! It's her character Arian- copyright to her. This one was fun to work on, and I had and interesting challenge in trying to forshorten the image so that I could make it look like it has a 100 ft. wingspan... or at least fit most of everything in the image. Hope you like
~10 hrs, no ref, photoshop, etc.

This piece is amazingly powerful; I must say its one of the first I've seen that so precisely portrays the actual flight of the alicorn. Most (like mine ^^) just show then on the ground; but this guy is putting his wings to use, and its very realistic. This has surely been mentioned before but the blue light on his back legs and tail just adds to the effect. Amazing work :awestruck:

Ya know DaVinci sometimes followed ppl around (secretly) for a day and then went home and did studies from memory. i always thought that was so rad.

The play of warm/cool light and the perspective with that hoof make this very dynamic. And it's always nice to see a pegasis/unicorn painting that goes beyond the norm.

that's pretty damn good. As someone commented above, the perspective, in terms of the hoof is verrrry interesting. That's why you're so fab. As a question (if I may) what brushes have you used on this? They give a lot of texture, but I can't seem to place them... and they're really good. This would have been totally fantastic with a referance - without, it is mindblowing. You have my utmost congratulations (you said you couldn't deal with compliments, but it's just so good. I do apologise

Thank you haha, I usually use the chalk brushes in photoshop, with the flow turned to a very low percetange, and I blend them together with plenty of strokes. I also use the smudge tool with either the spatter or the chalk again to add more texture as I blend things together further. (I don't like seeing actual brushstrokes unless they're very tiny highlight details) Hope that was enlightening

I use photoshop, it takes forever to do details to hide all the photoshop-esque-ness, but its a good program.

This is incredible! Especially the positioning and lighting is awesome! And though it took me a moment to stop staring at Arian to realize there's more, but the background is pretty cool as well ^_^

This is so good. The lighting is spot on, I love the soft blue lights on the back end and the golden highlights at the front. My favourite bit is the hoof nearest. You don't see that kind of dimension a lot. It really brings it to life. Awesome work
