Description A peak at the life and times of these two inseparable friends/enemies/rivals.

This takes place after Dash fought against the white-haired woman (Twi's disguised form), still haven't come up with a name to call her alter ego.

Twi's signature pink streak will not be visible until she regains most of her power.

White-haired anarchist? Mare-Do-Well?

O_o

I've yet to see how the two can be the same.

Explanations, please? Pleeeeease?

If the author doesn't want to at least explain his reasons for doing so, that's his business. He doesn't need you to speak for him. And if you want to prove your maturity, you could have at least asked me why I disagree with this route he's seemingly taking.

Instead, you go with the "Don't like, don't comment" diatribe. That doesn't speak well of you.

Sarcasm doesn't speak well of you either.

For the record, I know actual gay people that would be offended by things like this being done; they don't like being reduced to fetish fuel or used to pander to people that like this kind of stuff, either.

Why the heck would Twilight masquerade as a villain ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BenRG In reply to ColonelBSacquet [2014-07-07 08:22:55 +0000 UTC]

Remember your Spider-Man: A hero can be perceived as a villain if the Powers That Be are not tolerant of vigilantes or are suspicious of unidentified people with superpowers and unknown agendas.

ColonelBSacquet In reply to BenRG [2014-07-07 08:44:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, you do raise a very valid point. Heroes who can't - or don't want to explain themselves and their course of action, for whatever reason - can be easily mistaken with villains, or damages wreckers.

The thing is, in the place of the Powers That Be (I don't really get what it means, but well. I'll make do.), one has to admit they must be cautious.
I mean, if you're the elected mayor of a city - a city like, say, New-York - and you have one or several "free lances"
who take on duties and functions of a police force, even though they are not, you are bound to become wary of their deeds.
You have been elected, trained, etc. to take these functions. The vigilante were not. Respect of law is the business of everyone. But the enforcement of law is the law enforcement agencies' business.

Ok, some might have been trained in those fields, but even then, they are not compelled by law the same way as sworn, active law enforcement agents are. And since you can already have problems with police brutality, imagine what it is with "loose cannons" like the vigilante, from whom you just have the word of honor as a guarantee of their good behaviour.

P.S.: In other words, even if I kind of like characters like Dirty Harry, Shaft, and so on, characters who do what it takes to keep the criminals in check, I'm sure I'd put much trust in personal justice. It sounds too much like medieval instability.
Just my humble opinion.

BenRG In reply to ColonelBSacquet [2014-07-07 11:15:46 +0000 UTC]

The best versions of Batman (in other words, not those inspired by Frank Miller's psychopath masquerading as Batman), he was always clear that he was not an executioner or justice, merely a private detective and peacekeeper. Notice that he always handed over his foes over to the cops for a trial and never used more force than was needed for self-defence and to restrain them. Spider-Man was like that too. It's something that a lot of people fail to understand right now but this care and wisdom is the difference between a true hero and a thug with a somewhat-noble cause (a good example of the latter being Rorschach from Watchmen).

ColonelBSacquet In reply to BenRG [2014-07-07 15:19:05 +0000 UTC]

Rorschach, a good example of a thug with a - at elast somewhat - noble cause ? I have to admit I haven't seen nor read anything about the Watchmen. So, to speak like RP gamers, Rorschach's alignement is chaotic good, while Batman and Spiderman are more like lawful good, right ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BenRG In reply to ColonelBSacquet [2014-07-07 17:33:01 +0000 UTC]

Rorschach's alignment is tricky but I personally peg him lawful neutral. Whilst he acknowledges that there is such a thing as 'good' and 'evil', it is his view that the world is too corrupt to contain any good and the only thing anyone can do is keep hosing the filth of the streets with all the force required. He has little sympathy for victims. Indeed one of his fondest fantasies is for society to collapse and for him to be able to stand on the rooftops and scream at all the people begging him for help: "I told you so! You DAMN fools!" It's this cynicism and bitterness that is the key motivation of the character.

Batman tends to be lawful good or lawful neutral in most of the best portrayals. I tend towards the latter because his morality, though strong, probably shifts a bit too far into the dark for him to be 'good'. "Seven billion lives on the line? I'll lie, cheat, steal and use every devious, dirty and underhand trick to win the day. I'll let the losers fight over the 'good conduct' medal."

Spider-Man tends to be chaotic good. He enjoys thumbing his nose at society's expectations a bit too much.

Despite being a cop, Rainbow Dash/Wonderbolt in Thousand Lights strikes me as being fairly similar to Spider-Man, mostly due to her ego and adrenaline addiction. Meanwhile, I get the impression that Twilight Sparkle/Amethyst Witch is a lawful good because of being a living avatar of the light end of the natural order.

ColonelBSacquet In reply to BenRG [2014-07-07 21:37:02 +0000 UTC]

In fact, R's motivation is just getting the occasion to behave like a royal arse, isn't it ?

""Seven billion lives on the line? I'll lie, cheat, steal and use every devious, dirty and underhand trick to win the day."

That doesn't sound like the Batman I imagine. But well. As long as it is to save people, I don't think it can be considered as neutral. Just mho.
