So is it merely a case of unthinking owners being away for awhile, and not even leaving toys down for the puppy while they're gone?

But... guess I'm really slow today... Please may you tell me what is going on in the comic? Everyone here seems to see something sad, while I didn't catch anything XD

I wanted to show a dog upset with being left home alone. I left it up to the readers to decide if the owners are gone forever or just for some time
As for what's going on, I was trying to show that the ball fall down simply because there were too many toys in the basket, and the dog thought someone came home and threw it xD It's silly, but I needed something to be a hmm some kind of a "turning point" (that's much of a stretch) so that I can make a comic strip and not just a single picture of a sad dog.
My starting point was learning that the situation when a person or a dog has it really really difficult to handle being left alone/away from one person they feel most attached to, is called separation anxiety (disorder), and that it applies to some animals and people I've got to know. But I think I drifted away from that, so... this happened. I don't think it's all that great, but I admit I am quite pleased with how I handled the simplicity and the distribution of pannels.
