Important things not included in the ref:

- As always, we'll start with his name. Roho just means "spirit" or "soul", a name chosen for him by his brother, as his mother did not bother to give him a name. Roho has some special abilities that he cannot control. Mainly, he has a little post-cognition. He cannot "see into the future" so much as he just knows what's going to happen and when. But such an ability burdens the mind and some lions think that is why Roho cannot talk, that he had to trade his words for knowledge. So Roho does not like being able to see what is going to happen and again, he can't control it, usually it's a dull hum in the back of his mind but in times of crisis it can become really profound and impactful, which causes Roho a ton of pain and often leads his whole body to break down and he has a seizure. Though Roho himself hates this ability, his brother thinks it's super special and important and needs to be cherished. He believes that the Great Kings of the Past blessed him in the womb and that makes Roho not only important but somehow fused with the very soul of the Earth, blessed by the Circle of Life, destined to do great things. So it just seemed fitting that he be named after this aspect of his psyche.

- Mentioned breifly above, Roho does not talk, he is completely non-verbal but he is not mute, he can and does make noise to convey what he wants. He is actually trying to learn how to talk over time, mimicking Kuduri (his loving older "brother") and trying to figure out how to form words with his mouth. He eventually manages to get some key phrases, mainly 'yes' and 'no' but also things like 'potty' when he has to go to the bathroom or 'hungry' when he is famished. This takes many years for him to achieve though so generally speaking he is still considered mostly non-verbal. He was the runt of his litter and it is suspected that he lost the ability to speak when his mother tried to suffocate him to death so that she could focus on her other four healthy cubs. But Roho's aunt caught her in the act and saved him.

- He was briefly raised by his aunt Muda. She was far too old to feed him herself and so she and the tiny cub would hop around from den to den, looking for any lactating females who were feeling generous. Most of them were okay with feeding him every so often but, because of his small size and the harsh conditions of the pride's territory, some females turned him away, convinced that he was too small and too weak to be worth the effort to feed him. Thankfully, his aunt was determined and never gave up on him. She had to wean him off of milk super early in his life, which some lions think contributed to his delicate constitution. But the two managed and Roho grew into a small but generally healthy young cub.

- He met Kuduri at this point, having been bullied by the other cubs for the noises he made instead of talking. They thought it was weird and funny and tormented him relentlessly, downright hurting him sometimes just to make him yell. He was able to escape up a tree but the bullying was a constant problem. That is until Kuduri came along. The older cub asked Roho why he wasn't playing with the other cubs and Roho just shattered and spilled what he could manage to say, crying and in pain and desperate to know why the world did not seem to want him. Kuduri, being the unbelievably kind and gentle giant, let the little cub cry into his fur until he fell asleep and the two have been inseparable since. They consider themselves brothers, even though they have no actual blood relation.

- Kuduri is the only creature he had ever met who actually cared about him and his opinion of things, actually asked Roho what he thought about things. Generally, other animals just walked over him, doing things they thought would help him but never asking him how he felt or what he wanted. So Roho is attached to Kuduri at the hip and talks to him way more than he talks to anyone else. And in return, Kuduri protects him, hunts for them, keeps him warm and knows what to do when he has a seizure. The two boys are just absolutely two peas in a pod. So when Roho hears about some shady stuff going down nearby- humans they called them, and a pair of man-eaters, he immediately decides that he needed to help, thinking that his post-cognition might actually be helpful for once. Kuduri tried desperately to talk him out of it but Roho is the kind of lion who always does the right thing, so he insisted on going and Kuduri reluctantly followed his brother on this journey, leaving the Palelands behind. Kuduri would never return.

- Kuduri and Roho were born into a large pride living in a canyon that was way too small, way too hot and way too dry. Cubs were dying of exposure constantly, to the point that desperate females were abandoning the pride, desperate to save their cubs. The alpha male was clueless, he thought the territory was great and anyone who said otherwise would get backhanded. He was a rough alpha who actually wanted to kill Roho, his weak and sensitive son. He did not like the cub's small size and weird behavior and thought, as many of the lions in the pride did, that Roho was better off dead. But Auntie Muda was no push over and she defended Roho at every twist and turn. She ends up being killed right in front of Roho when the alpha was intent on attacking him, she jumps in to protect him. She ends up with her throat ripped out so, sensing the danger Kuduri snatched his brother up and they fled from the pride. Roho never returns to that place, he never had to. He knew that anyone who stayed would die, he saw it with his fancy powers, most of the pride just layed there and died of starvation, including the alpha male who stayed there so long, Kuduri found his skull among a bed of bones.

- They ended up in the Palelands after wandering for months, it was a long and hard journey. But the Palefall Pride was everything that they needed. It was peaceful, there was care and understanding, everyone was so nice to him and no one ever questioned his psychic abilities, if anything they saw it as an asset so they started to train him to be what's called an Oracle. He would provide the Queen Hatari with information that he saw in his visions, allowing her to plan and act one step ahead of her opponents and dangers to the pride. Unfortunately, as Roho grew and learned how to talk and be comfortable, to be happy, his powers slowly left him. He was still a great shaman, very knowledgeable and very intelligent, quick witted and just super smart, but he is unable to see the future of what happens in the Oblivion chapter because he is an adult by then and his powers were almost completely gone by that point.

- Despite being an absolutely tiny cub, Roho grows up to be of average size. He eats a lot to fuel this growth and is always complaining of being hungry. He is not a picky young man and will eat pretty much anything, though zebra is his food of choice. He could probably put away an entire zebra by himself, he has a black hole where his stomach should be.

- Another cub that he is crushing on in the pride (pls pls pls volunteer to play this role, I want this cub to belong to someone else, which is why I am keeping things vague so you guys can be creative but definitely hit me up if you want to fill this niche in the story) is the one who made him all of his jewelry. At first, Roho was skeptical of the adornments, not really understanding the point. But he quickly warms up to them and now does not take the feathers off of his person, not even when he is bathing in the river. He loves the brilliant color of the feathers and also loves the cub that made them for him so it's easy to see how they'd become super important to him over time.

- Roho's arc takes place during the Dark Chaper of the story. Though he is introduced in the Dusk chapter, he doesn't do too much until the humans are discovered nearby and he goes with Mauti and Sauda and them to go stop the man-eaters Maciji and Matope. He is no longer a cub by this point, he is a young teenager when they go out to protect the pride, still noticeably older than the youngest team member Bahati, who is still a straight up cub. Roho is a yearling by this point while Kuduri is practically fully grown.

- Kuduri dies in the fighting to protect the pride and, though Roho is devastated, his desire to be the lion that Kuduri thought he was only intensifies and he pours into his studies to become the best god damned shaman the Circle of Life has ever seen. He works hard on his emotions, learns to adopt his brother's calm nature, to mediate and be considerate. The other benefit of this training is that he regains his powers ten fold and can actually control it somewhat by the time his story ends.

- He has at least one cub at some point, a young female who he names Kudari.

- No claws showing on this little cinnamon roll.

- Once again, HekimaTheWhiteLion is out here doing the world a favor with her adoptables . Love this little guy. I'll have an adult ref for him at some point.

And this is the adorable Roho. His ref has been hanging out in my stash for a hot minute, I just did not feel like writing out his information for some reason. But I'm glad I did so, he's cute and he completes the team of five lions that leave the Palelands to fight off the humans and the man-eaters in the Dark Chapter of my little TLK universe.

And I am serious about his crush, by the way. I really want someone to draw and roleplay with me and this little nugget, and I like cute awkward guy love stories. So do hit me up if you want to fill that void, the more people who participate the better, I think. I think stories are more fun when you collaborate.
