HEY.

So, I've been busy with school (surprise, surprise, I know). I was SO BUSY I didn't have time to participate in 's art contest, and I felt bad, cause I really wanted to.

HOWEVER, that did NOT stop me from drawing her something; I present, my "would have been" entry for her contest.

's contest was to chose a pairing of hers and draw them. I chose Chumi and Shinji, since I feel I connected more with in the Bleach fandom more than any other fandom we know each other from. Also, the Bleach fandom is small and friendly, and I love to add to it

Here, we have Chumi and Shinji at a festival; Japan has a few different winter-type festivals, so I tried to give that sort of feeling here. Looking into kimonos and yukatas worn during these wintry festivals, I found that girls often wear a sort of furry-type shawl/drape over their shoulders, so I added that to Chumi's outfit. For yukatas, I couldn't really find a very consistent "accessory" for winter for men, so I went with one I found and like, which appears to be a long, material drape/scarf, for Shinji.

(ALSO, I JUST GOTTA PAUSE THIS FOR A SECOND HERE BECAUSE WHILE LOOKING UP REFERENCES FOR SHINJI, I FOUND OUT HE HAS A TONGUE RING PIERCING??????? I READ THE ENTIRE MANGA AND I NEVER NOTICED IT BEFORE!!!! VERY INTERESTING TO FIND OUT AND ADD IN HERE. ANYWAYS, THAT'S IT, MOVING ALONG NOW).

I wanted to give off a sort of secluded and serene scene for these two, so I decided to do a sort of "section" of a festival where people or couples can walk through a sort of maze/pathway of snow-covered pine trees stringed with warms lights up and over the way. It feels private and romantic, and I think I managed to pull off that atmosphere I was looking for.

Now, you are probably thinking (or maybe you aren't, and I am just projecting my thoughts onto yours), WHERE is this festival taking place? Soul society or the human world? I like to think it was Shinji's idea to bring Chumi to the land of the living and participating in one of their winter celebrations, one that maybe Shinji thinks Chumi would like the most...?

And so, we have the two strolling along this quiet, subtly glowing pathway, surrounded by snow and trees and lights, and Shinji is just like "Pretty nice, isn't it?" From what I understand about Chumi, she's pretty emotionless, or, very good at masking her emotions, and so she just responds with a "Hm."

But oh...? Is THAT a BLUSH I see on Chumi's face? Is she purposely looking away from Shinji and very intent on focusing on the sudden flurries because she FEELS something?? Or is the ruddiness of her cheeks just from the cold? (Hint: Shinji's cheeks and nose are also ruddy, but not nearly as much as Chumi's so...). Who knows~

SO, I actually drew EVERYTHING in this art piece! I did the trees, lights, sky, background, everything EXCEPT the clothing patterns, as google has very nice patterns that I wanted to use O3O

I'm VERY PROUD of how everything came out, and hope you guys like it, especially ! I hope this makes up for my lack of participation in your contest :'D
