It had been quite a while since Emma and Belfry had done any sort of competitive riding - all their outings lately had been in the foxhunting fields, an environment that, though comfortable for the both of them, offered little when it came to actual discipline and rules. And while she had to admit that it was fun, Belfry wouldn't improve much running after hounds.

And it was a bit idiotic, wasn't it, having this discussion with her own mind when it really was nobody's business why or how long she'd stayed away from competition. It mattered little to her, too; now that she was here, heart pounding with the familiar feeling of anticipation and excitement, Emma realised just how much she had missed this. She'd have to thank Shane, honestly, who'd convinced her to (begrudgingly) come through tales about the stables' good food and hospitality. That, thankfully, hadn't disappointed, either.

Letting out a soft breath, Emma reached out to pat the stallion's neck, running her fingers along the impeccably groomed coat, before straightening up to adjust her crooked stock tie. Belfry had been pretty decent during warm up, with no more problems than a couple of minor resistances that had been quickly solved, and the pair was now walking around the warm up area on a loose rein, a little relaxation before the real work began. And it came soon enough - she'd barely managed to fix the stock before her name was being called over the loudspeaker. Gathering the reins, she trotted through the dirt path to the outdoor arena, cicling the carrière to greet the judges before entering and halting at X, Belfry standing very square while she gathered the reins in one hand and bowed her head. Time to focus.

I think this is the first time I've ever drawn a crowd... Even if it's a tiny one! (that's Luke happily eating an ice cream after their test) Also the first time I've drawn Belfry competing in Dressage. Whoops :L (gosh, doesn't he look pretty though?)
