Description ....and so does this picture, but yeah. Yknow what really ticks me off? When people "defend" pit bulls by saying something hateful and ignorant like "it's CHIHUAHUAS you have to watch out for! those little things are EVIL!" I mean....hypocritical much? You're going to defend one breed of dog from stereotypes by bad mouthing another with stereotypes?

Pit bulls are NOT bad dogs. Chihuahuas are NOT bad dogs, either. The main reason you see so many bad behaved chihuahuas (and small dogs in general) is because of the PEOPLE behind them. Small dogs are often treated as babies (or worse, fashion accessories) and things that a large dog would NEVER be allowed to get away with are shrugged off as "cute" or "funny" when it's a six pound chihuahua causing the trouble. If not taught good manners and properly socialized ANY dog can be dangerous, or "yappy". I have personally never met a mean pit, and my little chihuahua Foxy is as sweet as can be.

The point of this is, please. THINK before you speak...get to know a dog before you judge them. Not all pits are the same, not all chis are the same. Every dog is an individual! Did you know chis AND pits are two of THE most abused and overbred breeds of dogs out there, and two of the most common seen in shelters? If you're thinking of adopting either one of these awesome breeds PLEASE consider saving someone from a shelter or rescue! Try www.petfinder.com

I totally agree I support Pits all the way I am getting one eventually and I am going to call her sage mountain I imagine her to be brown and white with green eyes. I am the same way Believe it or not Deaf and Blind dogs have a bad rap too and have a hard time being adopted out because everyone goes for the more active picture perfect pet.  Plus the myth's that surround them I got my dog from a friend I may have saved her from the pound. Buffy is deaf She's a double merle. My friend doesn't breed no more though.

I agree with what you mean about them both being overbred. On many shelter sites there are tons of Chis and Pit bulls, but most often they are mix bred.

Do you know Stubby? I found a book on him that I hope to find and fully read (because I love this series. It's called Dog Diaries and has famous, actual dogs who live. We have George Washington's personal pet Sweetie, Buddy who was the first Seeing-eye dog in America, Fala (who is coming out next year) who is a President's pooch...and now Stubby who is a war mascot and hero).

You have to wonder where it went wrong, and what's to stop the blame from moving on to yet another breed? Some time back, there was an incident where a stray chow bit a boy...just a few incidents can start the fire). But many of these dogs are heroes. Stubby was just a mutt, but yet he proved to be a brave dog and a good friend to those fighting in the Great War.

I just don't get how a hero can turn into a banned dog.

I have a Chihuahua/Shi Tzu cross (Chi-zit as my brother calls it) and while he's well-trained and a sweetie, he definitely lives up to the name Gimli. There's no such thing as a bad dog; just bad dog owners.
