Well, surprisingly this was actually taken at Lake Balboa Park in Van Nuys. The Photographer used an interesting lighting setup paired up with a wide angle lens to get an elongating visual effect (only if viagra did this, lol) and merged it with a very industrial looking background. LOL, i was actually really surprised by the final outcome of this photo since it sounded like the photographer had to merge 3 different images together to get this kind of an effect.
It looks like Bruce Heinsius's specialty is catching action with his camera, and i wasn't completely sure on what the final outcome of the photo was but wow was i surprised by it.
Hehe, since the question came up about the background. It is not a stock photo but a set of photo's that the photographer had taken, so its part of Bruce Heinsius's own photography works.

Yes. Jason was photographed by the very same lens as the background, which helped it match so naturally in perspectives.
It takes good cosplayers with their posing and acting skills to get great shots.
The lake he was originally standing in front of, was quite beautiful, but after Jason showed me some Noctis video on his iphone, I knew an industrial location was a better way to go.

thanks. Lots of pose micro adjustments by the photographer on this one. I guess wide angle lenses are super sensitive to placement since it domes everything.

hehe, getting the sword and foot situated just right was so painful with a wide angle lens. Its so sensitive to movement that the photographer had to fine tune the pose.

Thanks. Yeah, Bruce is very professional and will adjust lighting and poses until it comes out the way he envisioned. Its actually kind of nice having him adjust the poses because I can't see exactly how i look, so its like having another set of eyes.

haha yeah that's pretty crazy. i love Bruce's photos. he tried to do some of my Soi Fon action poses with me jumping from a ledge x.x it didnt go so well. haha but the one he took of me that DID work out was this one [link] totally not as epic as your Noctis shot though

LOL, at least you got to jump downward. Jumping upward is tiring, lol. Something i found out is, it is really hard not to make a "dee der dee" face while jumping, lol.
