I started with a cylinder that i shaped in the way i wanted around the "reactor", then i used the the modifier "noise" to make it a bit iregular. Used the modifier "lattice" to get kind of a wireframe mesh of the cylinder, and finally i just started radomly deleting parts of it. the glowing ends i added in photoshop. i could have done it in 3d studio but by the time i had gotten this far my crappy computer was like overloading and it would have taken too long. I couldnt even render the whole picture at once, i had to make two renders and then put them together in photoshop.

Thanx for the comment, im glad you like it

An anti-matter reactor? Highly improable. It would be spherical with huge magnets on the outside with a vacume inside. Still this is pretty cool. More like a geo-thermal reactor of some sort that uses steam.

well i actually thought of that, this part that is showing is the part that transfers the energy to a microwave beam and sends it to a sattelite in orbit around the planet/meteor witch redirects the beam to a reciever/converter somehwere else. the main part of the structure is located further down the "big hole in the ground". I was toying with the idea that they could hollow out a large spherical meteor and turn it in to a reactor shell with the main reactor inside. ofcourse an anti-mater reactor would produce more energy than we could ever want or be able to handle. and thats just one of the huge problems you would be faced with when trying to construct it. a more realistic approach would perhaps be to make it a fusion reactor. but still "anti-mater reactor" sounds kinda cool

Oh, I understand. The only problem with an antimatter is that firstly anti-matter can only be made in very very small amounts and secondly it is pretty hard to handle seeing that when anti-matter comes into contact with matter there is a self-mutual annihilation when they are both destroyed and energy is produced. With technology expanding as rapidly as it is in a few decades time we might need the energy which might be provided by such a device.
