did you paint the ground and background as well, or is it photos you have used/edited? anyway it looks amazing

It's a DMP! (Digital Matte Painting). I basically paint a quick sketch, color block with broad strokes, then throw in a few images and manipulate and paint over them, and just use any tools I can in Photoshop to pull off my concept. The domes are for example 100% painted. Just used the circle lasso tool, soft brush, cut out some stuff, linear dodge for lightning stuff, etc.
