Erebus was found tiny, cold and stiff. he was found in the deep of the crystal empire tundra by flurry heart on a weekly gem retrieval expedition. he was tucked into a corner of a shallow cave, curled into himself, completely and utterly alone. flurry, being only a teen herself was shaken with the sight of the little creature. flurry being the soft hearted girl she was, wrapped him in her scarf and trudged all the way home. by their return, he was visibly weak and it was expected that he wouldn’t survive.
visible umbra qualities were identified on the colt and he was quickly put into capital care and observation. twilight and her friends were ushered in. as current matriarch she was expected to evaluate how to proceed in this situation. his threat evaluation was commenced as they tested his behavior, this time was spent with each one of the 6 spending a day with him and determining his response to each core element. it was decided that he would remain under controlled supervision until they knew his origin.
a few seemed to agree with twilight, however, kindness herself spoke up with deep sorrow and passion to protect the boy. fluttershy stopped twilight and begged to let her take the creature. the first encounter between fluttershy and eres went a little like this:

when the guards pushed open the obnoxiously large entrance doors into crystal palace room and makeshift jail cell, there was a single crib in the middle. as she made her way in, fluttershy seemed to wander in a straight line. taking her time walking to the looming “threat” ahead. “such a small crib.” she thought to herself as she approached, head tilted in unbridled curiosity. her eyes peaked just over the side to reveal fuzzy red fur and and tiny little cloven hooves. “and such a small threat..” she whispered aloud. his little chest was lifting up and down, such tiny little spouts of air; “how could he hurt anyone when he can barely breathe,” fluttershy spoke to the smiling boy.

in the end, fluttershy gained custody and he was raised with a love for rabbits, emotional regulation and groovy vibes!
