Taking a quick break from Vectoring to draw some of what I think is a really rare ship, Twirilee. I dunno, they just sort of work, in my head anyway. Unfortunately, there's about collectively two fanfics about it, one being a clopfic, which I'm not even going to touch (despite how many people keep telling me how amazingly written it is), and another one which, well... the author pretty much could have just written "And then they fucked" and still kept the sort of emotional response that I got from the fic.----
The "My Little Pony", "Friendship is Magic" franchises belong to Hasbro and Lauren Faust.

Wait...so you're not reading "Romance Reports" because it's clop, but you did read "The F-Grade Drinking Game"? Am I misremembering something here? "FGDG" might not have been clop, but I do believe it got pretty steamy.
If you want to test the waters for "RR" (as in, you'd like to know whether the writing style and all that is your thing), I'd recommend going with "Like Fine Wine" by the same author. Yes, it's clop too, but unlike "Romance Reports", the clop takes quite a while to get going (around the midway mark, in a 20,000 word oneshot), it's easy to turn away to avoid it (you could say you see it coming a mile away, har har), and it does have a mention of Twilight/Cheerilee (in passing, sadly).

Yeah, I did initially read the FGDG, but yeah it did get pretty steamy (but not enough to make it past the EqD readers), and yeah, it really wasn't my thing, because I like shipping stories that sort of build up to the shipping, not just hum dee dum BAM hawt lesbian pony kissing.
And since posting this I've softened my stance on RR, and yes have read it (and it was freaking amazing!), I've also read through Like Fine Wine as well... well, up to the clop, then I sort of stopped, because Sparity, even in normal shipping, just isn't my thing.
That tidbit of Twirilee in LFW made me epically sad though.

If you could find a good one that isn't clop, I'd love you forever lol. The only two I've ever seen/heard of is Romance Reports (that clop fic I was talking about in the description). The second one is called the "F-Grade Drinking Game", and, well it wasn't really for me, considering when I ship, I was stuff like this: [link] and the F-Grade Drinking Game really more falls under this category [link] (I'm sorry for the disturbing image, but I think it really gets my point across well lol, d/w, it's not porn or anything... just more 'wut?').

Okay, this is just cute as heck. I like the ship for multiple reasons; Twilight really does have a very similar mindset to Cheerilee (not that Cheerilee is very thoroughly characterized, but the teacher type, I mean) - and it has zero angst potential. Painless and lighthearted, yet intellectual? Sign me up.

Jesus mate, you've basically listed about every reason why I like this ship, and I don't think I could have put is so eloquently (as you saw from my attempt, "I dunno..."). It really is a shame that the fandom hasn't capitalized on this, because I really do think it could work well. And unfortunately the only fic I've read on the matter turned out to be not as fulfilling as I usually like my shipping fics, all it ended up being was a description of a drunken kiss and stuff, which is fine, but only if there's enough of a build up to that sort of satisfying conclusion. All it turned out to be was blah blah blah unrelated stuff and then BAM they kissed, the end.
The only other one I've heard about Twirilee being used (and quite extensively, according to one of my friends), is in a clop fic called "Romancing Reports", and while I know I ccould appreciate the supposed "great writing, characterization, etc" (again, according to one of my friends), I really don't want to have to go that far to get a satisfying Twirilee fix.

Now that you mention it, I really haven't seen clean Twilee, Cheerilight - whatever - done well, either. Huh. Unexplored territory. That just makes it more interesting, to me.
