Description Oh em gee an original work but I still ask for COMMENTS BEFORE FAVES

I got bored so I started to draw my original characters with influences from various art styles/movements. I did this one because my Nouveau piece was starting to grind my gears.

So these are my Gods of Light and Dark, Xinthe and Xanthe respectfully (Xinthe is the girl, Xanthe is the gent with the horns). This piece is done in the noir style of American comics, my biggest influences were the artwork by Lee Bermejo for Joker and Frank Miller's Sin City.

I'm pretty proud of it, even if there are some notable flaws.

Lucid Melodies, it's characters and artwork are copyright to J. Gagen nee Song

Ooo..very cool!
But the funny thing that struck me was that "Xanthe" is actually a girl's name, and it means "yellow-haired one"

Xanthus/Xanthe is actually a genderless name. I chose it because it was the name of a Greek warhorse who could talk but was struck dumb when he understood his true purpose.

Oh? That is so cool! I have a classmate and her name is Xanthe (yes she is teased for her name VERY MUCH) and she is a hardcore goth- but she told me her name meant sunshine- i thought that was funny!

I love this piece! Her red dress makes her look so sensual but she looks so innocent at the same time and He looks so mysterious but caring!! Me likeyyyy!!!

A really great play with the negative and positive space (something I personally suck at so admire people who can pull it off.) Sometimes I find images with too much black or too much white become difficult to interpret immediately but not so here; the eye travels over the image easily and understands perfectly what is going on here. I like the addition of the red dress (even if the idea was derived from Sin City) and don't know if the red on Xanthe's hair is really necessary but I guess it balances out the composition. The noir ambience is very pronounced with all the stark contrasts between shadow and light creating a moody and dramatic scene. Top stuff.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I would have responded earlier but I kept this note in my inbox so I could have the reminder that I made a good choice chasing a passion. But I want to thank you for the time you spent giving me honest feedback.

Thank you again.

Really love this one! Their poses, emotion, composition and limited use of color make this great. Awesome awesome <3

This one is pretty popular XD I just kept thinking of "The Customer is Always Right" and this is what I got

"And what is it you see in my eyes?"
"I see a crazy calm. You're sick of running. You're ready to face what you have to face. But you don't want to face it alone."
"No, I don't want to face it alone."

i really like the style which spices up the generic idea of two lovers embracing each other.

Haha, I'm not sure about 'lovers' but I think it really does allow a deeper swell of emotion for such a simple concept

I love the contrast of the red black and white, it helps rou out the emotions in the touch and face I also really like how the contrast of colours seem to create the lines in the clothing rather then actually big lines, thats just what jumps out off the top of me head its a great piece

Thank you very much. I was mostly worried that there would be too much black but I think it just makes her look more innocent/defenseless. Most noir pieces use more colors, but I'm very happy with just the spot coloring

Bby I love it!! They both look super not and I love the sense of emotion in the piece. It's very elegantly rendered, some of your best work.
