So in the end, Second was her friend, in a way, she may have cursed Rig in the first place, mainly wanting to eat and not knowing (or caring for her as a person) back then, but once they actually interacted their relationship was clearly positive and not even a bit manipulative. And when Rig was adult, Second was shown taking active interest in her life and actually taking initiative to prevent Rig's demise. Even if she might (or might not) have anticipated the other demon could be a threat to her.Β
So I feel it's fitting for Rig to end up taking Second's palette. Suits her better than Deadwood's crooked version of her. Even though Night sickness is present on her in this form she looks ten times as strong compared to the form deadwood gave her...

Yep. When you look on Songdogs other crows, they dont have black eyes, but Second had them from the beginningΒ ^^ Though it was revealed pretty late that Second was a Demon ^^Β

Oh hey someone answered it for me already, but to add deadwood has always been lower case. The only time it's supposed to be capitalized is if it's the start of a sentence.
A lot of people capitalize it in comments which is fine though.

yes! on songdog's page, there's a journal entry full of info about names in the comic.
"Deadwood also does not have a name. The word βdeadwoodβ refers to what the tree specifically is, basically like saying βelm treeβ. That is also why deadwood isnβt capitalized in story."

Somewhere Second is cackling.
And somewhere Deadwood is silently losing it. (Though I doubt they are aware that Rig went Super Demon 2)

Maybe by killing Deadwood will Rig be cured of her sickness. I still believe that Second and Deadwood had an issue going on, family troubles so to speak, and the night sickness was meant to curse/ defeat/ put an end to Deadwood, than it was to harm the deer. The deer were just the vessels, a means to an end for Second to use upon Deadwood.Β What likely impressed Second was that finally one of her cursed "got it" what it was meant to do. The "Miracle" would be putting an end to the tree and whatever curses it's done to the soil and forest.
I also have the feeling if it wasn't a rivalry between demons, "Second" might have been a victim of Deadwood. (perhaps the "second" demon created by the tree). Maybe the animals it cured were turned into demons/ cursed? So by ending the tree, maybe those demons are either freed, or least more animals are prevented from falling into the same curse. That theory might be a stretch, so I wait to see what comes next.

"I wanted to live, when I died. And now when I wanted to die, I live." Poor Rig, dealing with demons never ends well and this is obviously the case here, as well. Perhaps now, with Deadwood no longer having a hold on her she can make sure Deadwood never hurts anyone else ever again.

I reread the pages from Rig's childhood days and on one of the panels it mentions Rig's father was a traveler (herdless, I'm assuming that means?) who was handsome and blind in one eye and like,, eisendahl really copied that style huh haha
is that an intentional parallel or an incidental one?
