Description: This is the oldest artwork on my DeviantArt, and I painted the mission in elementary school for a project concerning Spanish missionaries. The missionaries gravely mistreated the Native Americans and attempted to rid them of their culture, language, and other aspects of their lives. So although the mission itself is beautiful to behold, many terrible things took place here.

My painting was unusually advanced for my age, and I still cannot fathom how that happened. Still, there are signs of inexperience, such as the solid dark lines that mark the doorway and the odd shadow in the field.
