Previous: How to shorten a wing correctly
"Uh...." Elena awoke with her leg aching. Slowly she turned her head as far as it would go. Trapped between Tommy and Aluka, who of all things, had chosen her leg as a pillow and nightly snack, she had curled up into a sort of ball to at least have a little space. But no chance. Tommy had snuggled close to her and was pressing into her belly with his claws. "Aluka..." "ALUKA!" Tommy opened his eyes sleepily and blinked at the red dragoness, who was desperately trying to free herself from the clasp of Aluka's teeth.
"Good morning!" Came a voice from the entrance. Kereno. Of all dragons. Elena sighed inwardly. What had she done to deserve this alarm clock? "Rise and shine, comrades, the instructor is waiting." Elena's eyes grew wide. "Comrades? You're on our team?" "Do you mind?" asked Kereno, bored. "Indeed!" was Elena about to complain, but a turquoise head appeared at the cave entrance. "Are you coming or do I have to carry you out?" "Five more minutes Rowca." muttered Tommy, already asleep again. Aluka growled something unintelligible and nibbled Elena's leg. "Toivo?" The turquoise dragon looked at his cousin with a mixture of curiosity and exasperation. "What is it?" "Help me!" the red dragon whimpered miserably, trying in vain to save herself from Aluka's sharp teeth while pushing Tommy aside. Toivo sighed, "Kereno, you take care of Aluka." He himself walked over to Tommy, grabbed him by the horns, and pulled him out of the cave into a long, dark hallway. Kereno wasn't much friendlier either. Roughly, he bit Aluka's muzzle, whereupon the blue dragon instantly let go of Elena to pounce on the attacker. Elena scrambled to her feet and ran out of the cave after her cousin. He dropped Tommy to the ground and went back into the cave. "Come on now." he growled, and the two followed him with their tails between their legs. Sadly, they trotted after their instructor, who seemed to be in anything but a good mood.
By now Tommy was awake, too. "Good morning, Commander Toivo!" the purple one greeted the turquoise dragon, but was hardly noticed. Unsure Tommy crept along with Elena behind Aluka and Kereno. "What did I do wrong?" the little one asked his comrade, who was busy looking around the long tunnel. There were more passages going off everywhere and she was sure she would never find her way back to her sleeping place. "Umm..." Absentmindedly Elena tried to remember while looking around. "I think you mistook Toivo for your brother earlier."
