Description
This piece was coloured with watercolour pencils (plus metallic marker for the flowers). I didn't think I was going to paint the skin - at first, I'd coloured it in with pencil and told myself I wasn't going to add water to turn it into paint - but then I decided if I'm going to try a new medium, I'm going to go all the way. I also vacillated until the very end about whether to paint or pencil-colour the clothes. I'm really glad I painted it - I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the gradient turned out. I do kind of wish I hadn't made so many white outlines in the hair, though.

Honestly, after this piece, I don't think I'm ever going to colour with coloured pencils again. Watercolour makes the colours so much smoother (none of that bumpy texture), saturated, and darker when I need it. Also, it's waaayyyy faster, and I don't get hand cramps *flashbacks to my earlier coloured pencil works*
