Description We usually see pictures close-up of this mountain, so i wanted to take a different one, at least try.
It is taken 5 km from uluru (Red rock in the middle of Australia) handheld with a fujifilm compact.
Post processing ( B/W, grainremoval , contrast ) psc2.

Hope you like it, feedback is appreciated

The mountain almost looks like another cloud until you look closely.

yikes - that horizon isn't straight... or at least it doesn't seem to be. which makes me feel kind of awkward when looking at the picture

also, i'd go for higher brightness on the ground. but nice, fluffy clouds...

It is a very nice picture. The clouds give a lot of dept to the piece.
They look like they are about to crush down on the ground any minute.
Fabulous picture.

It's a great picture, with a lovely mood set over it. I somehow got the feeling that the sky was in more focus then the mountain itself. Cropping away that extreme "gap" in the clouds at the top of the picture, and this shot would be perfect, imo. Off course, for all I know, you've tried and disliked it. xD
Can only tell what I would like to see. That gap caught a little too much of my eyes. but all in all, another great shot from you, StΓ₯le!

I like... one thing... Uluru isn't a mountain... lol. It's a monolith... it's massive under the ground... goes for miles and miles! I've never been but my parents have, I've been to Aussie but didn't get to NT.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sortvind In reply to Castalia-lais [2007-06-03 22:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Thank you
Really? They do call it a mountain..Monolith sounds much better though!

Castalia-lais In reply to Sortvind [2007-06-05 10:46:57 +0000 UTC]

They call it a mountain??? really? how odd. Monolith i believe is a type of rock/rock formation, i dunno what the definition of a mountain is though....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sortvind In reply to Castalia-lais [2007-06-05 11:13:15 +0000 UTC]

I do think it is a monolith pr definition, but on the "flayers" and in the stores it says Mountain.
Mountain is a more commercial word, guess that is why!

The clouds alone is what does it for me...at least thats where my eye landed. I like the scenery tho. Good job in not doing a horizontal shot to just focus on the linear perspective of the clouds receeding to the mountain.
