"I run on the wrong side of life,
I'm the one that you fear when you hold your wife.
I run where the darker crowds run,
On the rain swept streets where the black rain runs."

The Wrong Side - Abney Park

A commission for ~michaelmas of Arskatheman 's weasel character, Shiro Kamaitachi.
I drew... Every. Single. Piece. Of. FUR. I have got to find a faster more efficient way to do this, its killing me. DX Overall, I'm happy with this, I'm fond of the red moon and the stone he's standing on. I have no idea why though as they aren't the central focus. XD

Hope its to your liking ~michaelmas ~

,though fall'n on evil days,
On evil days though fall'n, and evil tongues;
In darkness, and with dangers compass'd round,
And solitude. (John Milton)

Yes! thou art gone! and round me too the night
In ever-nearing circle weaves her shade (Matthew Arnold)

The crimson moon not only mimics his eye (and inner mind) but acts like an infernal halo of his countenance

The jagged precipice not only anchors his feet (and accentuates his inhuman physique) but boldy frames his precarious grip on the mundane world and the attraction to the elements of air and darkness (and gravity)

love it SO MUCH!

I'm glad you do!

You're words in regards to this piece are very deep and give more insight to the character. He's got a lot more to him than just the exterior~

He seemed a part of the mute melancholy landscape, an incarnation of its frozen woe, with all that was warm and sentient in him fast bound below the surface
_Edith Wharton "Ethan Fromme"

Thanks! (we try ... )

This is really awesome with all the details and fur. I usually don't spend more than 4 hours at the very most on one picture (most I get done are less than an hour), I'm amazed you kept at it for 12.

Did you draw this with a tablet or mouse?

I'm looking for any hints and tips to paint digitally as I'm a freehand directly in ink only traditional artist, but I believe I lack in CG skills and am seeking for some tutorials or any help I can get to improve.
I do have PS C3 and Corel Painter and a Wacom tablet and more stuff for digital work, though I don't make much use of them. Any techniques, tips, help you are willing to give will be most appreciated ^.^

Thank you~

I've always been taught to take my time and put as much into my work as possible without overworking it. Its not uncommon for me to spend weeks working on something lol. XD

I use an outdated wacom, its a CTE-430 Sapphire, which I don't think they sell anymore. I got it yeeeears ago when I first started doing digital work.

The only help I can offer you is this, do a TON of speed paintings. They don't have to be perfect or neatly done, but doing so helps to learn the tools and also helps you get into the digital groove. I'm not good at explaning things and the only tutorial I have in my gallery is how to do eyes. But its the basic way all of my digital paintings start out. :3
