Heya! Coming in from
Once again I appear admiring your wondrous artwork
I was drawn to this piece at first by the lovely usage of purple (my favorite color!). The sphere around the character’s head must be my favorite part! It nicely grabs viewers attention and draws the eye towards her face giving the image focus.
The shading once again is very neat and refined. I might add a bit clearer highlights near the sphere to better refine the light source, but other than that everything looks nice and balanced. The color palette looks stunning, purple and red aren’t the easiest combination to work with but you’ve nailed it just right.
Anatomy too looks very good, however there’s a little something on her face that appears a bit odd to me. I think it’s the eyes as they seem to be different in shape. I also think the ¾ perspective would work better if the facial features would be angled a bit more towards right (like you have the diamond on the right spot and I think the nose should be aligned with it)
When it comes to composition I have very little to complain. However I think that the planet on the bottom corner is a bit unnecessary. Style wise it looks very soft and sketchy while everything else is sharp and clear and I think it draws a bit too much attention to itself – from the thumbnail it almost appeared like she was standing on it – if it were gone I think there would be better feel of space and floating. The diagonal composition is strong as it is and the corners don’t need much details. So I would advice on keeping the lovely red hue, yet either removing the planet or making it more transparent so that it’s more like a shadow in the distance or perhaps make it smaller.
All in all - great work once again!

Hello there!
Thanks again for your very thoughtful comment on my artwork, I can already say it is quite helpful that I would love to give you another llama but can't sadly
Anyway, I am glad you adore the colour palette I have chosen for this. I think you and me, we are on par when it comes to this red-purple combination. It is very soothing to the eye while maintaining the atmospheric feel of space and emptiness. Also it nicely contrasts with her greenish skin colour tho I had to turn its intensity down a bit to not to look too distracting and out of place.
Also, I think I get what you mean with the planet. It is a bit too dominant in the whole picture. Completely removing it wouldn't be a good thing in my eyes though, as I took it as necessity to give the red ambience some meaning. If there was just this red gradient going across the image, it would feel nonsensical. I much rather would consider your latter recommendation to downscale the opacity a bit.

I think so too! :3 especially in space, nothing should hold your fantasies back :3
But I will try to keep subtlety in mind for the next time I place background objects with high contrast so they don't distract too much from the main thing

Woah! Very strange but interesting character and species!
"I was glad I could draw Charlie here as it was on my to do list anyway to practise rendering humane facial structures." Humanoid, you mean. Though while she has no muzzle, I wouldn't consider her face to be humanoid—them eyes kinda preclude that.
She looks like she's in quite the dire situation now (in space without a pressure suit or any conventional means of propulsion)... I hope she does some badass stuff and successfully escapes it.

Hmmm this matter deserves a more in-depth analysis...
A humanoid is pretty much the same as an anthropomorph as both mean similar or close to a human in various forms. While humanoid is usually used in regards to androids or fake-ish beings and anthropomorph is used to describe animals with human traits.
Humane in the one side can be taken in moral context or what is likely human(e). On the other hand, however (and I am only focusing on the German use of the word as I barely have any other experience with it), it also means 'belonging to a human'. So I figured my use of the word was used correctly there as I said I wanted to practise humane features such as the chin, cheeks and head structure, not the nose and additional eyes which are the alien parts of it.
Also don't worry about her state in this pic, as adding this spacey background was a quick and arrogant way to help her look cool :3

Interesting subtle difference in vocabulary—the latter use of the word "humane" or its cognate is not really present in English, at least in the dialect I was brought up in.
IMO and in at least some of broader English usage, a humanoid can mean a species with human-like anatomy with little-or-no integral* animal traits; for example, Vulcans (Star Trek), Zabrak (Star Wars), and Orcs (Western Fantasy) would be considered humanoids. Note that many humanoid "species" in fiction I would consider very derivative but proper humans if they existed IRL according to my taxonomic viewpoints—if Neanderthals are human, why wouldn't certain elves be, for example?
So, as I was saying, because of her tail, eye anatomy, frills, etc., though, while her body and facial composition has humanoid elements (or humane elements, as you say), I wouldn't consider it to be humanoid in total.
*By this standard, nekos and other kemonomimi can be humanoid in my book, as their animal traits are more "add-ons".

Thanks once more... I think you just stated how stunning it is to you :3
Haven't done aliens in a long while and this was a nice practice to return to the old days.

Dang! This looks really nice Souvie! I love how you keep the smallest of details as well XD With the gun set on " Precision mode".
Nah, I don't think you got carried away with it at all XP It does add more ambient, which is why it's better to have it added^^ Though, the only problem I see is the purple orb behind Charlie. Is it a planet? If so, then it the problem with it is that it's transparent. Correct me if it's not a planet though, Souvie XP

Yeah I don’t always find ways to add in little details like that but always am happy when it comes to mind :3
And no that’s not a planet. Just a little something I added to increase contrast at the point of interest.

Thank you very much for the compliment mate :3
This definitely is a new experience for me. Should do that more often... I think I didn’t do much experimental stuff this year and that‘s why I don’t feel I developed much... but I‘ll get myself to reflect on this at the end of the year :3

Aww it was a pleasure, pal ^v^
She really did turn out nicely and I enjoyed pretty much every step in the making. Just hoped I could have finished it earlier or rather that not so much that’s happened in my life recently added to its delay...
