WOW! This is such an awesome but simple illustration of Gaira! Love your style! He scared the crap out of me too!Β
Especially when he ate that lady then spit her clothes out!Β
Whoa!

I like the relationship between the 2 brothers, and how the humans treat his brown brother as a baby. Very cool. Mothers is my fave Kaiju then the Gargantuas!

Oh yeah, I saw Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster in the movie theater in NY with my little brother when it first showed in the USA. THAT movie creeped me out as did Hedorah!Β
I did love MOGUERA in Space Godzilla and the later Mecha-Godzilla Kiryu. I loved the back story where they had the Godzilla skull and built Kiryu around it. All the different eras of Godzilla have their good points for sure. Godzilla vs. Mothra is a classic. And while many dislike it, I loved Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster with Ebirah and the Mothra twins!

Yeah, I liked King Kong Escapes alot too! Mechani-Kong is SO cool. Have you seenΒ www.deviantart.com/kaijusamuraβ¦Β DA page???
He's from Northern US I think, but I see him at Dragon Con in Atlanta every year and buy a Gamera poster or two from him.Β
He has a Mechani-Kong pic on his page that is just nuts.Β
I think I like Godzilla vs. Ebirah just because it is goofy and doesn't try to be too serious even though is has the villainous commander and everyone is shooting at everyone and the they switch the berry juice and the ship gets destroyed by Ebirah. When E and G play volleyball with that boulder, it's classic.Β

Yep! He spits out her bloody clothes onto the ground. Scared me as a kid in the 70βs! But love that movie! Also love Frankenstein conquers the World too! Another classic!

Always been a fan of kaiju flicks. Only familiar with this one by name though, but man, this looks so cool. ^^

Oh, believe me. I will. Beside King Kong and Gamera, Godzilla is my absolute favorite (i still watch the movies and collect the figures until this very day).

The monsters/kaiju in those flicks have more personality than cgi ones. Probably because we can see the actor's eyes.

There's that of course, and in a way I guess the sense that you can't truly replace something that is there with something that isn't. Don't get me wrong though, sometimes the CGI can be almost perfect. Put Andy Serkis in a mocap suit and the man works pure magic. ^^

Yes, Andy Serkis is an exception because in his performances we get to see his eyes. After all, eyes are the windows to the soul.

He's definitely a bit of an exception. Nobody has quite breathed life into CGI the way he has.

That movie scared me when I was a kid! Oh, how that grotesque face of Gaira haunted me. Your illustration brings it all flooding back. Well done!

You are welcome. Probably because we could see the actor's eyes made this kaiju scary.

Loved those classic Japanese Monster/Horror Movies! Did you ever see Matango ? I knew it then as "Attack of the Mushroom People". Scary at the time.Β

Matango is a masterpiece!! I also think it was pretty scary and have sinister atmosphere. I saw that film originally in black and white, now it's been recolored. Personally i think making the film b/w was a lot more scary.

They are still famous in my memory for all of the crazy ways you can die in bad endings and also there were certain artists that were very good within the books.
