Description It's beginning to become clear for me what I actually want with this escalator series. This one is not what I want, but maybe you'll like it anyway. In the meantime, I'll start planning for my next pic, something I mostly don't do, but maybe should do more.

Thanks to ~selquet for confirming the cathedral feeling.

As a note: the real escalator is the standard version: two escalators next to each other. The turns that they make in the foreground is the effect of a non-planar perspective model, according to which your eye works as opposed to a camera (with a flat image plane) and the classical linear perspective used by artists since the renaissance. You get this effect when you project on a spherical or at least cylindrical surface. Your eye is spherical thus it actually sees something like this, but your brain corrects most of it away. A camera with a flat image plane can show you this if you pan it around while taking images: you move the CCD/negative in a spherical surface.

Astounding work. There is such a post-gothic sensibility to this piece, it is simultaneously a play on perspectival differentiation and the attitudes toward ascension that permeate hyper-modern culture. I have spent innumerable hours this past week on airport escalators and moving sidewalks and the fact that one never becomes inured to their movements up and through, is astounding to me. You have so perfectly captured this fragmentation and partiality of experience.

I love the persepective in this one.... It's really dramatic, and the pictures really seem to fit together perfectly. I also love the framing.. with it in a square and lots of grayspace, that's very cool.

I am "soothed" again

I think you give back some beauty to things that are devoid of emotions.

That's art.

Yeah, I agree with selquet, the colors really do look natural. I like how only half of the collage is spherical, like how you said our minds correct that spehrical view. Very cool.

the arrangement here really compliments the space, and shows that perspective you're talking about. and i really like the way you're adding these colors, they look extraordinarily natural.

I think the best thing about this is the exposure. Thanks to that and the perspective, you really get drawn into the depth of this image.

Great collage. I like the symmetry you get from the handrails (reminds me of ATARI *hehehhe*). Nice coloring too.
