Description My entry to the Disney Club Contest "Villains Gone Good". I chose to use Hans from Frozen because, honestly, he is the only Disney villain I can buy having a redemption arc. The little arc in my mind (hence the glasses and beard) is that Hans escapes from home and ends up in Corona.

Eugene and Rapunzel would have met him in the movie, since they were at the coronation party and subsequently trapped, but they wouldn't have become intimate enough to recognize him quickly especially if he altered his appearance. Growing a beard, putting on some glasses with useless lenses in them (Since he doesn't actually need them) and changing his name make it fairly easy to blend in with the lower-middle class population of the village. He gets a simple, honest job somewhere and vows that this is not the end of his quest for power.

Just...he finds himself getting more and more sidetracked by the simple pleasure of life in the town--waking up every morning to a cup of hot coffee and porridge with fresh berries in it, talking to the old men across the street during their seemingly endless chess game and weather discussion and, most of all, his employer's oldest daughter.

At least that's how the story WOULD go if I had time and the drive to write such a thing...but I do not >< I would have done a scene from the other Frozen fic I'm messing with but that would have been EPIC spoiler which I don't want to do right now.

This above is a stolen moment where he helps one of the sister's from Tangled retrieve her kitten. Apparently the cat was strolling along the edge of the fountain and slipped in. The cat, being a cat, feels no gratitude and instead wants to murder anyone who witnessed his humiliation. (Just kidding...I do like the kitties. They are very prideful though XD)

Inspiration-wise I have been getting more and more fascinated with Norman Rockwell. I really love his tendency to identify the perfect moment that captures normal life. I was trying to go after that here--there is nothing epic going on, no heroic deeds or sacrifices....just a simple little scene that plays itself out all of the time, all over the world...but that only a good person would stop and take the time to help with.

Aww, very sweet! I was really upset when Hans turned evil in the movie, so I'm glad that you've imagined a redemptive arc for him!

Thanks! And I KNOW! That was just one of those 'smack-up-the-side-of-the-head' moments!

Good idea with the crossover. We all know Hans is a good actor, but maybe this time he is for real.

I'm hoping this time he is. It's mean to lie to little girls and water-logged kittens. Thanks for the comment!

This is a cute idea. I also agree Hans is more plausible villians to change.

I can so see him as being nice, after all he was in the start, so it wasn't hard to go off of. I love that he helped that little girl, it was sweet of him and its such a nice thought, it never has to be a big gesture, just a small one can show kindness Great job and use of colors, good luck to you ^_^

Thanks! And that's what I was thinking--little gestures are also easier to draw and create too.

I really like the background story that you made for Hans. And it was cool that you included Tangled in the mix

"waking up every morning to a cup of hot coffee and porridge with fresh berries in it"  Love it.  Simple and 100% believable   I really wish Hans hadn't been such a bad guy, he seemed so sincere in the beginning of Frozen.

It's the simple things in life that make it grand! And I agree...Hans could have been so much!!! But nooooooo he had to have a sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Cool idea to make it a crossover with Tangled.
The fact he's saved a cat for a little girl is really cute!
