This is very well constructed, and you seem to know exactly how to portray the expressions. One thing I noticed that seemed to make the picture a little off is the shadows. Not for the characters, but for the background. It doesn't say in the description if you made the environment yourself or used stock (some people do, I promise I'm not trying to insult you xD) but maybe you could add detail like the shadows of the books on the shelves? The only other thing I can think of do add is that you did a marvelous job on the lace beneath them, but the same thought applies- I'd like to see some shading there too just a smidge to make it look more...not realistic, but I guess more 3D? Great coloring, and I love the yellow swirls in the filly's mane and tail, it really does give her that 'sunset' look.

I did do the background myself, but I didn't spend as much time on it as I did the characters, and I don't have as much experience with backgrounds as I do characters, so this was a bit of a learning experience :3

Heather, this is some of your most fantastic work yet. Twilight looks amazing in this older form. You've definitely given her a more unique look for her. She's familiar enough to recognize her, but different enough to know that she's changed.
The library scene here is excellent. I love the perspective, the bookshelf, and that almost obscure photo of her and Flash Sentry in the back, heheh. That, too, promises a story that has to be told!
And finally, Sunset Spark. She's a beautiful little fully with a great design and an adorable pose and expression. Not to mention that great little lace carpet they're lying on. All in all, this is a fantastic drawing for your stories, and I can't wait to see more.

Yeah It was kinda hard to figure out how she would age, seeing as she is probably already a great grandmother at this point(!) but if she is going to live for even 1000 years, she would barely be a young adult yet.
The little portrait was fun! I wanted it to still be fairly ambiguous, but since Flash Sentry works for the colorations I had already come up with, i decided to roll with it, and did the family portrait with the three kids I had designed (In the portrait, Sunset's father is about the age Sunset is in this piece) originally, i was going to have sunset's parents in that opening, but couldn't figure out how to make it work.
