But it could also be real, another part in my brain tells me it was real, that she was really a princess from the underworld kingdom, as it tells you at the ending of the film.

The saddest part of the whole film, makes you think if it was real or in her head to escape the harsh reality she was living in. Which makes the ending of the film even more sad and tragic if it was her imagination and she died. Very sad ending, i always get tearing when i watch this scene, we get so attached to this beautiful young girl during the whole film. This is a great drawing, descripts this scene perfectly.Β
The blood is amazing and done so well, I love you Ofelia.

HOW do you make such a beautiful painting in oil the FIRST TIME YOU DO IT!? I can't work with oil, I don't know how to do it and it annoys the hell out of me because it takes ages to dry.
This is ... gorgeous.

Beginners luck? Haha, Oil certainly rewards the patient and tortures everyone else. Thanks so much for the compliment! ^_^

I'm usually good right up to this scene and then I start crying every time. Oils certainly suit the mood of the movie well. Overall, gorgeous piece from an amazing movie.

Omg, that's amazing! The detail and effort put into it really show. I loved this movie to pieces. I always cry at the ending.
ps: To avoid glare, did you try turning flash off and taking the painting outside? Usually works for me. C:

Which one? ^_- Honestly the forward most hand is my fav part too because of the lighting effect that makes her finger tips appear as if they are glowing.

Her left hand. Yes it's the light effect you gave it.
I always have trouble with blood effects.

Wow, you did an amazingly good job, I love this. The ending is one that really gets me thinking: was it happy? Was it sad? Was she really a magical princess or was this just the childish fantasy to escape from somewhere as terrible as where Ofelia was? Or am I just over analyzing it...

I don't think you're over analyzing it. In fact, I'm sure that was del Toro's aim to have an ambiguous ending.
I am also torn between the two possible outcomes. Although I kinda lean toward the idea that the folk fantasies were a child's interpretations during wartimes and/or hard times in general: losing first her father then her mother and unborn sibling. Either way her mind has gone to a better place.
LOVE this movie.
Thank you kindly for the +fav too.
