Description

I spontaneously bought a train pass in September when I thought that I just had to get out of the office and away from my thesis for a while and took a train North. Originally I wanted to only go up to Trondheim and stay a few days, but the weather was rainy and gloomy, so I took a night train beyond the arctic circle (also saves money for hostels). It felt like waking up in Middle Earth. The northernmost station of the Nordbanen is Bodo, where I hiked the Keiservarden (small mountain). The weather was grey and rainy and dreary, but when I arrived at the top, the cloud cover suddenly opened up in a few places, the Sun came through and turned the Norwegian Sea into a silver plane, the Lofoten islands were visible in the distance and this rainbow appeared. Unfortunately I did not have time to go to Lofoten since I had to try and get back from the Arctic circle to the mid of Germany in two days to sit on my desk on Monday again (not fun), but I will be back.

I also found a small bookstore in the town which instead of shelves basically had a labyrinth of books. Most of them were in Norwegian, but I now own a copy of Hamlet in English
