Description
A yowl from outside of the rogue's camp woke Missingflash. She stretched and stood up, yawning. Peeking outside, she looked around for whoever yowled. Snakefang came running into the camp. "Reaperclaw! Killjoy!" He called. The two cats stepped from their shared den.
"What's all the commotion about?" Killjoy asked.
"The spy told us Ravenstar's planning an attack!" The younger cat yowled.
Missingflash bristled at that. A spy? A traitor among Dreamclan? She had to tell Ravenstar, as soon as she figured out who it was. Starclan must've heard her because just then a familiar tom stepped into the camp after Snakefang. Missingflash couldn't keep her fur from bristling. Branchleap. The tom looked over at her. Wait, did I say that out loud? Missingflash asked herself.
"Hello, Missingflash. It's nice to see you're alright." Branchleap said calmly.
"I didn't expect to see you here, Branchleap." Missingflash responded.
"AHEM." Reaperclaw said in a near hiss.
"Right, right." Branchleap sighed and trotted over to the three rogues and began talking with them quietly.
Missingflash managed to get her fur to lie flat and limped over to the pitiful fresh kill pile the rogues had to get food. She grabbed a scrawny mouse and ate it silently. Her ears were perked as she listened to see if she could pick up on any info, but Killjoy had moved their conversation into the den, meaning Missingflash could only pick up snippets of their words. She glanced toward the camp entrance. Poisonberry was standing guard, ears perked forward to listen to sounds. She couldn't get out now without being noticed. All she could do was wait.

"It's time, aru." Sagetuft murmured to Smallwing, who nodded and padded off to gather the others. The grey tom glanced back at Froststorm, who was silently eating two small mice. Now would be the best time to tell him. Sagetuft thought as he padded over to where the other tom was eating and sat down beside him. "Hey, Froststorm," He started, causing said tom to look up. "The others and I made a plan. We're going to attack Killjoy and the rogues ourselves. We're getting Missingflash back, aru."
Frostbite instantly perked up, a piece of half-chewed mouse flesh falling from his mouth. "What?! Really?" He half-shouted, but Sagetuft silenced him with a look. Snaillight, one of Spidershadow's closest friends, had his gaze fixed on them. Like Spidershadow, Snaillight had a strong distaste for Sagetuft and the others. Frostbite settled down and spoke again, this time at a quieter volume. "You're really going to go behind Ravenstar's back to rescue Missingflash?"
Sagetuft nodded. "Yes, aru. The others will be waiting-" He was cut off by a new voice speaking.
"You won't quite be going behind my back."
The two looked up and saw Ravenstar. Sagetuft couldn't help but notice the grey fur around his muzzle. The Dreamclan leader was getting old. If Sagetuft remembered correctly, he was on his last life.
"What do you mean, Ravenstar?" Froststorm asked before Sagetuft could.
"What I mean is I know of your plan to attack Killjoy now. I have suspicious that there is a traitor among us so the rogues would know if we are planning an attack tomorrow. We will attack with you." The black and white tom said. "Smalltail already knows so he has only sent out those who will not participate in patrols today. We're getting Missingflash back." Sagetuft could clearly see the happiness in Froststorm's face when Ravenstar spoke those words. Hopefully, the Dreamclan leader wouldn't notice. It might be best if such an old tom didn't get wrapped up in these dealings.

It was nearly sunhigh when the group set out. Sagetuft glanced around at the cats chosen. There was the entire group of cats that had joined the clan with him, plus numerous warriors, namely Mothripple, Eelpaw, Boulderfleck, Dustpounce, Witheredblossom, Mottleflash, Spidershadow, Specklepaw, Antheart, and Moonstep. Smalltail and Ravenstar were leading the group, obviously. Sagetuft was walking a little ways behind them, carrying herbs for the injuries the warriors would definitely aquire in the coming battle. The two apprentices and new warriors talked amongst themselves, their faces betraying their excitement to fight. Sagetuft tore his gaze away from them and fixed it on the cat in front of him which happened to be Smalltail. The feature that named the deputy--his stumpy tail that was cut off due to a fox trap within the forest when he was a kit--was sticking straight out behind him. He didn't show excitement, or even slight happiness at the thrill of battle. His gaze was cold and fix straight ahead.
Sagetuft frowned. Smalltail wasn't one to be easily excited, if ever, but he still didn't look well. If only Missingflash had seen him before she was unexpectedly taken. Maybe he wouldn't partake in this fight to get her back. He shook his head to clear his thoughts as Softpelt padded up beside him.
"Hello." was her only greeting.
Sagetuft nodded in response.
"The first battle we've had in a while around here." She said, shifting her gaze to the other cats around them.
Another nod.
Softpelt shoved her shoulder against him, effectively pushing Sagetuft to the side and nearly knocking him off his feet. "Aiyah-!" Sagetuft stumbled into a tree, his paws nearly coming out from under him. "What was that about, aru?!" He hissed.
"We don't know how many cats those rogues have with them. We could be walking straight to slaughter!" Softpelt said, looking almost panicked.
Sagetuft's fur bristled. He didn't know much about Softpelt but what he did know was that she tended to panic easily. That much was obvious. He sighed, "We'll be fine. Everyone will return to camp, no one's dying today." He tried to reassure her. Keyword: try. Softpelt became even more panicked.
"But how can you be so sure?" She began to pace, tail lashing. "We thought we were still invincible, and look what happened to Poland! He's dead, China. Dead!"
Sagetuft flinched. If Softpelt was shouting, she was definitely very, very upset. He moved closer to her and muttered, "Now is not the time for this. Spidershadow is staring." That caused Softpelt to shut her mouth. "Later. After the battle." Then he grabbed the dropped herbs and headed off. He felt her eyes boring holes into the back of his head for a bit longer before she finally shifted her gaze. Possibly to go speak with Mottleflash, or maybe even Sharpclaw. At least she wasn't staring anymore.
The group came to a stop on a small hill overlooking the rogue's camp and crouched down to wait for the signal. Sagetuft spotted Poisonberry standing guard, but no one else. Thankfully, the sun was behind them so that if anyone looked there way, they would be blinded by the burning light. Without clear knowledge of how many rogues awaited them within the walls of that camp, the element of surprise was all they had going for them. After a bit of muttering back and forth between Ravenstar and Smalltail, the old tom got to his paws and raised his voice to a yowl.
"DREAMCLAN, ATTACK!"
