Ooh, yes, colourful- I know X'D

NO, I HATE HENTAI The octopus is such a beautiful creature and, along with cats, is my favourite animal. Also your fetish isn't really "tentacle fetish"; octopuses (yes, it's correct) actually have arms, not tentacles. Squids have 8 arms and 2 tentacles, the latter of which is a feeding appendage. However, tentacle is used as an umbrella term for all cephalopod appendages.

OOohhhh, yes, another guy down!! (if you don't know what I mean, here: So, it seems ...... that there is a huge difference of interest when I draw men and women.
I could draw the most anatomically flawed picture in the world of a pretty woman. She'd still get more attention than a technically perfect picture of a man.
I'm not ungrateful, the thing is, I ENJOY DRAWING MEN WAY MORE THAN WOMEN. Women are difficult to draw and at the same time kinda boring for me. I see a woman every time I look in the mirror. I can make myself look however I want. I love drawing guys, from the extremely manly to the soft and androgynous.
FOR THE REST OF THIS MONTH, UNTIL NOVEMBER 8, I will ONLY be drawing males! I also hope to learn a lot about male anatomy this month. Because I lack time to do inktober, this will be my monthly challenge. Maybe I'll even get to work on some requests from a while back ...

So, basically ... ugh, there's too much to say.

First of all, the photo looks WAY BETTER than the scan.

I've been wanting to make a DTIYS (Draw This In Your Style) challenge for quite some time now. I considered using an OC but then I just felt like I would be conning people into getting free art ... and they have so many details that I'd get mad if people messed up, and I didn't want there to be so many rules for something that was supposed to be a fun challenge. So I decided to design an entirely new character.

Meet Prince Octavian. He's an OCTOPRINCE. But not an OC-Toprince. He's not an OC. But he is? But not an official one. I still completely own his design (though in the futute I'm considering making DTIYS adopt contests, where I make an adoptable in the form of a DTIYS and the person who draws them best wins the character rights). However, I will likely not be drawing him again, though, who knows. He doesn't have a story or anything, but only a basic backstory.

Male octopuses die right after they mate. The females die after their eggs hatch. Tragic, right? Well, I imagined there would be a shipwreck in the middle of the ocean. The sea kingdom was angry at the humans for continually polluting their water and overhunting, and disrespecting nature in general. A beautiful woman falls from the ship and the prince of the sea cannot help but save her. They eventually fall in love, and idk how this is really supposed to work .. but anyway, either she dies in accordance with the , uh, way of the octopus, and it breaks his heart, or else he dies? Idk. It gets kinda icky so I leave the rest up to you XD

I have been sharing this in chats on Art Amino, where he was a bit popular, I guess? XD They wanted me to give him a name so I chose Octavian, because ... well, it's kinda obvious XD

Gore, but no red??? Hmmmm

But not impossible. I started thinking about how his skin colour and everything would be affected if he were to have blue blood instead of red ... he has a bluish, dead looking colour.

However there's something vaguely ... Thai about this? Idk is it the aesthetic? I can't place it.

This was also one of my only character designs without a cultural reference. Though Octavian's detailed, I didn't go crazy, instead focusing on his face and tentacles.

I think I carefully avoided Clizziness in this drawing, which was kinda tough, as I did have to use a bit of black expo marker ... but otherwise, yes, it's entirely gel pen and prismacolor coloured pencils. I'm pretty satisfied with the dark colours here. They're not too vibrant but still noticeable and eye catching.

HOWEVER, his hands are a bit small, and I could practise more with tentacles, I think. I also wish to eventually add more contrast so my art doesn't look as flat.

The composition here was tough and the background killed my hand (and also all my free time-)

ALSO I wanna feature my friend Shesvii because tbh this drawing/character was inspired by her ;v;
