The Great Ocean King is an ancient leviathan that makes its home in deep oceans below polar ice. It thrives in these chilly waters by using its bioluminescence to attract prey. The bioluminescence is not made by The King itself, but is in actuality a benefit from a mutualistic relationship with a strange species of bioluminescent algae that thrives on its body. The algae obtains nutrients from The King's meals, and in return, gives off a beautiful glow that is irresistable to many creatures. The Great Ocean King was once thought to have been a land dwelling dragon because it still retains small front legs, while the back legs appear to have evolved into fins to help it glide through the water. Its body is almost entirely black in color, but it is covered in a cloak that resembles ocean waves. It is thought the cloak is made of algae.
