Short doodle:Here is how I imagine the Mario Bros as Gems!
Mar-uhhh... I mean Spinel is a Solider/Guard gem with the ability to control fire, while Diopside is a technician and can create electricity... Hehehehe...
Spinel is discontent with working for the diamonds and wishes to go on adventures. The nervous wreck Diopside isn't really keen on leaving homeworld, but the bond with his best friend is stronger than his loyalty to YD.
Axinite will probably be formed after joining the crystal gems and betraying YD.
I'll probably draw a cleaner version of this soon

There actually is a Spinel character in the Steven Universe Movie.
(On the downside, the character isn't based on Mario like yours is.)

yeah they'll definiately betray homeworld. I can see it. If Spinel's asked to do something he doesn't want I can see him either having the courage to fight his supierior or a diamond before taking off with Diopside. Diopside probably won't leave unless given a reason to.
