Description Location: Rochester, New York

Camera: Canon EOS 20D

This little garter snake is a resident of our new yard. In the four years I've lived in New York, I have never seen a wild snake until now. My wife caught it using a couple of buckets and my daughters took turns looking at it and even holding it before we let it go. I took this shot right before it slithered away.

While I am not a huge fan of the slithery kind, i do love the way that some angles of these little guys make it look like they are smiling and very happy, great shot!

I've loved snakes since I was tiny, when I caught my first garter. Excellent shot, along with amazing clarity. I can rarely ever get what I want with my two megapixel Kodak. lol I'll have to fave this.

Snakes are pretty cool...as long as they are harmless like this one was.

I'm glad you like this shot. Thanks!

SpicyHamster In reply to KoontzPhotography [2005-09-20 13:50:14 +0000 UTC]

It's funny how snakes always look mad. I'm sure he was late for something. I thought about keeping him for a day or two but it beginning to get a bit chilly in the evenings and mornings. It figured it'd be best to let him go where he needed to go.
