The funniest thing here is that, before going to work for DC, Jark Kirby's Fourth World (from where the New Gods come from) was, originally, going to have two planets at war and end with Ragnarok , the battle that would kill (Marvel's) Thor's lucrative pantheon.
So, in a parallel universe, this may as well be official.
