Wolverine, when he was Patch the Lonely Ronin!My favourite era of Wolverine, all them Yakuza shenanigans!
Took a half hour sketch, inked it with a ball point, threw it into Photoshop.... 2 hours on the colours (lots of cutting!) and then 20 mins learning to write 'Ronin' (masterless samurai) in Kanji and stick in a background!
What a positive day, productive and satisfying!
Please dont hate my square man Wolverine... still rusty!

I never really have read any of the Patch era much believe it or not, just a little. 
Odd infact considering my obsession with good ol' Logan. 
Man dude, another odd thing, this makes me realize something. For the life of me, never, never in my life (out of all the times I've drawn Logan/Wolvz), never have I drawn the Patch version. WTF is wrong with me?
I'll have to do that sometime ey. Good inspiration here.

Oh yeah, I reckon you'd do a mean assed Patch, go well with your style that would! There wasn't really alot to read from that time, well not as much as his other versions imo... worth checking out the Syakuza storyline involving some steroidy type drugs (cant remember what its called, but it had 3 dudes with a dragon tattoo stretching across their backs, and the drigs made them crazy!!)
Thanks for checking through it, I rarely put my own stuff up as I never feel its at that level yet... doubt i'll be getting much chance to do any in the near future either

TAH! Yeah, I'll have to look for some Patch issues sometime. I do remember some of the early issues of Wolverine they used the Patch version. If I recall he also appeared in some issues of the Hulk. If you know a batch of some you would recommend, let me know which ones.
Anyway, yeah, post "your work" - all you, when you can, if you feel up for it. Great to see that stuff. No worries on when, I know y'll be keeping busy with the color work y'll be doing. You've def progressed on said color work beyond. Just keep rockin on the coolage that you crank.!.

Yeah, I noticed our linestyle is quite similar with these pieces I did, very light, sharp lines. Thanks for the comments on these (this and the Hulk one) really appreciated... especially as they're my own lines

Coincidentally I just read "Save the Tyger" (from marvel comics presents 1-10) for the first time, the whole way through. I read a couple chapters of it when it was coming out, but it was hard getting a whole run on a book when you're buying comics at a gas station hehe...Patch is also MY favorite Wolverine era. I love the team of Buscema/Williamson, Bill the Sink's inks aren't for me...

I hated those multi story marvel presents things... I have a few Wolvie ones of my own, along with Swamp thing and Colossus in em too I think! Definitely the best Wolverine era... although I am a massive fan of his 'enemy of the state' (I think thats what it was called!) story arc.

I was pretty much done with comics when the "enemy of the state" story happened. I liked the idea of Marvel Comics Presents, but unfortunately they would rehash what came before a zillion times during a long story..
