Description I put a lot of thought into this poster (and a lot of work to, as this kind of thing doesn't come as easily to me as some of the other brilliant people here), and its a dreadfully long shot that I would win the contest, but I think I've given a good account of myself.

I thought that I would try to touch on both the theatricality and the humor of the Sweeney Todd movie; I think that the images I selected to use of Depp and Carter ultimately sum up their characters (from what I know of both the movie and the play) and I think my colors selection relates to the aesthetics of the movie without being too stylized.

the full-sized image is 4000 x 6000 pixels (pretty whopping big for my bitty little computer) and I apologize for my little blood splatter; I don't really know how to make them properly, and thought that I might not be allowed to use other resources with this project. All the titles and text are standard fonts in photoshop elements (that's another thing to apologize for; I only have the free download people, sorry if the quality is a mite lacking)

Note: I designed the poster for the words to be at eye-level, so that the viewer ought to look upwards in order to see the rest of the image.

Thank you all for viewing; I might work on this some more and repost later. cheers!

I must state that the title is... inaccurate. it is of course, Stephen Sondhiem's work done in the Tim Burton fashion, but i do admire your poster, i'm just a Trifle OCD when it comes to Sweeney Todd.

*smile* I know that the original musical score is Sondhiem's, but if Tim Burton succeeds in bringing his own vision to the production, then it is really no less his work. If he fails to, then it is his undoing and not Sondhiem's.

But devil's advocating aside, I understand your point ^_^

Sondheim didn't just write the score, but the lyrics as well.

But anyway, why is Johnny Depp floating in the ceiling?

Because, as must be conceded, he can.

I most certainly have.

And despite everyone's protests, I maintain my belief that Tim Burton deals only in the purest form of comedy.

*grin*

well, if you look at most successful movie posters, they are clean cut with simple lines--and generaly not too much going on.

take a look at some matrix, lord of the rings, harry potter (big blockbusters) posters and you'll see what i mean.

I really love this design, you seriously put a lot of time and thought into this and it shows. The only technical issue I have with it is, I feel like it's completely balanced horizontally, until you get to the razor in the bottom right corner. It just looks to me like it shouldn't be there. So I think it might be a little stronger without it.

With that said, this is the best design utilizing the images provided that I have seen. Hands down.

Looks just like an authentic movie poster! I really like the balance of warm and cool colors/lighting from the left to the right, you did a wonderful job.

Of all the manips using the stock images, this is my favorite, far and away. The balance is fantastic, and I love (LOVE) the title between the lamps and against the paneling; it brings an air of antique theatricality that the musical itself also inspires. Great, great job.

Very good design and well balanced, Nice use of the empty spaces, Only thing that catches my eye as being "off" is the top picture that kind of blends into the up close picture of Johny Depp, the floor in the upper picture seems to be drowned out and somewhat confusing.

(It says Advanced Critique Encouraged so I figured I'd give my two cents ^_^;;; ) Other than that! It looks great!
