Haha, when I saw the preview of this, I almost thought poor Shad (The guy from TP) was stuck sandwiched in there. XD;

You sure? Because in Links Awakening DX you have to use pegasus boots to ram a book shelf in order to get a book from the top.

oooh well lookit that, they did add that in the DX version! <=== just did a quick google.
They still used the same technique in a Link to the Past, tho. Plus, if you look at the book in his hand and compare it to the Book of Mudora official artwork...

Eh, I guess you're right. Link looks the same in either game so you really can't tell. :\

I stick to Link's awakening being the sequel to A Link to the Past.
Or a semi-sequel since it was a dream.

But was it really a dream or does it all just seem like a dream, since when Link "awakens" he sees the Wind Fish and, on the perfect ending, Marin flying around as a seagull

It wasn't Link's dream; it was the Wind Fish's dream. It was real for Link and Link himself was real and so was the Wind Fish.
We could think of The Wind Fish's dreams as a pocket dimension. Since only Marin wished to leave the Island, she was the only one that "survived" thanx to the Wind Fish's power.
We could say something similar about Termina Fields (Majora's Mask) which is an alternate dimension to Hyrule of OoT. A Sequel that has no consequence in the basic timelines seeing as it's set on a different world.
Wether it's Alternate (MM) or Pocket (LA).

Now, link can defeat gigantic monsters, save princesses, dominate fire, turn into different creatures, dominate the world most powerful sword, travel to the world of darkness, slay a gigantic dragon, climb weak ladders and weak vines...
But CAN'T CLIMB A SHELF?
