Yeah, I'm planning on just coloring the first couple of pages of each round (if I make it in Dx ). I find that black and white have more dramatic effects if you can do it right.

Yeah... once upon a time, i drew a 20 page comic that was all black and white.. ball-point pen and all.
And it was the BEST one I've ever done.... i NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT i WAS DOING BACK THEN.. AND DO IT again!!!

xD All I really have to suggest is there are other kinds of gradients, some that focus on a circle that's fun to use.

well color gives it more fine tuning on what things should look like, but using color is something you should do if you have enough free time

Admittedly, the colors look a bit rough, but the impact they have overall is worth it. So, yes! The colored version is better!

In my opinion...
Yes. Not always worth it, depending on WHAT you're coloring (most of my characters are shades of gray, so yeah), but it usually helps add to the details. In this case, I would say that it does help, and it was indeed worth it.
Besides, my friend, if you're not pleased with the result of your hard work, take comfort in the fact that no artist is.
