Current King of the SoarScales, King Trill.

Before King Trill came to power, the last King (King Crow) was quite secretive, though he was never very menacing. But the palace grew eerily silent for a month, as royal family members started getting deathly ill and none of their doctors had a working solution. The public had no idea this was happening, until a new King Trill came out and told them all about it - that the King and other family members had been horribly poisoned by their most trusted head doctor.

No one outside the palace was aware King Crow had a son at all, since before he only ever showed his daughters out in public. But King Trill claimed he was being kept hidden in the palace so he would be safe - and turns out it worked since he managed to catch the culprit before they ever got to him.

Then the head doctor, who was fiercely fighting back and denying he ever did anything was publicly executed by King Trill, to show everyone in the kingdom he was dead.

You can probably tell, King Trill is a little suspicious, but so far he hasn't been a terrible leader. He puts a lot of focus on trade and garnering wealth through collecting treasures like scaleshells and exchanging plant food for minerals and gems from the Shade and Slime Kingdom. He's trying to get more contact with the ShoreScales, but they've been a bit more difficult. He doesn't smile often, unless he's putting on a public face.
King Trill is somewhat on the smaller size for the average male SoarScale and doesn't seem to have any real fighting skill that usually King's would have (since they have to fight and kill for the throne)
King Trill doesn't have an officially married mate yet, but he interacts with one of the remaining royal doctors named Budgie, like she's his mate. It's probably odd to others that he hasn't married Budgie yet, but no one's really gonna question him about it. King Trill has no heirs so far, concerning to other SoarScales since the poison incident happened.

The skull thing King Trill is wearing, is sort of the traditional SoarScale crown. After the prince had managed to fight and kill his father for the thrown (They actually battle in full armor and weapons of their choice too), the father's skull is traditionally collected, cleaned, charred (their bones are heat resistant too so it doesn't harm the skull), and then embellished with gold or other metals + fake large bird feathers are made to go around the skull. This is what the new King wears during his coronation, and then it's put away in a room filled with all the other King's skulls - unless the king was found corrupt or terrible, in which case they then throw his skull into lava.
Also any Queens that came to power get the same skull treatment.
