this dress is so cute!
I want a dress like that too do you know where to get the pattern for the dress?

Thank you! I didn't use a pattern when I made it. You might be able to find a pattern like it in a Gosu Rori mook.

I guess thats a magazine or something? Are those patterns also available on the internet, because I live in the Netherlands and don't know where to get them here.

You're in luck! You could go to Leyla's lolita store!

Thank you ^-^ I'm surely gonna visit that store soon, though all the clothes they sell seems really expensive. :<
Well, maybe I can find some pattern magazines there.
And I've got one more question: Does your dress has a petticoat? Because the skirt seems so poofy. (If poofy is the right word?)
And thanks again !

Most of the brand name dresses (original designs imported from Japan) are upwards of US $400 which is way too expensive, but I'm sure people have spent money on more frivolous things.

I have a pannier/petticoat under the dress to make it poofy. Petticoat gives it a fuller shape near the bottom, whereas a pannier gives it a more dome-like shape. Some dresses and skirts come with it built in and some do not.

Glad I could help you!

Thank you ^-^
I'll try to find patterns.
And on many lolita pics, people are wearing a blouse under the dress... Is this easy to make, or is it cheap enought to buy it?

Blouses I have a hard time making. Button-up blouses are challenging because of measuring where the holes and buttons need to be and making sure they match up. Some patterns are easier than others, though.

Okay, I'll search in the local clothing shops if I can find a similar blouse. Otherwise I think I have to sew it too.
And what is the best fabric to use for a lolita dress?

spookydarling In reply to Madrica [2009-12-02 17:00:09 +0000 UTC]

Cotton Sateen is really nice and flowy, but any cotton or cotton blend is fine. However, sometimes other fabrics can be used if the design of the dress is right. Do not use satin or other shiny fabrics unless it has a really good print or is high-quality, otherwise it will look too much like a costume.

Thank you
I'll try to sew the dress soon. I already found a good pattern, though the skirt isn't really lolita, but I think I can change that.

I actually was contemplating wearing mine--I made one from the same fabric, except black instead of pink. It really needs to get dry cleaned, though. =\

I wish you would have. I've seen so many great pieces of yours. I think I'm finally done downloading all the photos.... almost 500 altogether!

It will be in the J-fashion show on Friday. I won't be wearing it, but another loli I'm lending it to will be. I'll be wearing a classical lolita outfit. I'm also going to help host a Lolita panel, so try to make it!
