I hate to burst you bubble,but I have the movie novel and it does say these guys areΒ straight and HermannΒ Gottlieb has a wife and daughter. Newt is by himself. He's trying to get out of the nerdy stereotype to get a girlfriend, but his methods are dangerous by linking to a kaiju.Β

that makes no difference though, when people ship a pairing from a show or movie it usually doesn't apply to the canon story. its all in good fun, and its peoples preference. going on a persons art and telling them they are wrong cause the pairing doesn't fit with the storyline is kinda rude. this happens with tons of different shows and movies and some of the favorite shippings are extremely "out there" but the point of a fandom and a shipping is to have fun with others who have the same preference, so it really doesn't matter. not trying to be mean but i'm simply pointing out that your comment was sorta rude....

Why not draw them when their linked to a kaiju's mind?
The novel did give some information that can be of use to anyone.Β Prolonged linking can have a side effect of the two behaving like twins. They can sense each other easily, finishing each other's sentences, etc.Β That's what prolonged Drifting does.Β Β
I highly suggest getting the novel.

yea iv'e been planing on getting the novel cause i'd really like to get my hand on more in detail information on the story and its characters, my birthday is coming up so i might treat myself to it soon 
and wow that's interesting, that would be a cool fact to play with, do their minds sorta stay connected (memory and thought wise) after drifting? cause i feel like that would be a fun angle to work from, emotions and thought process, since they both pretty much think scientifically.

From what I read, it sort of works like that after prolonged Drifting. The first time it's bits and pieces of the other person, but as you keep going it gets clearer.
