Description
There's something both terrifying and glorious about that moment when you finally declare a drawing finished. I don't like to think how many hours went into this drawing - and I especially don't like to think how many of them went into drawing that background!

Either way, I'm happy with the results, and that in itself is a result.

Harvey here was drawn as a gift for a friend and fellow musician in one of my brass bands. She's an all-round amazing woman, devoting so much of her time to raising money for each of the charities that have helped her and other friends at various points. I'm so happy to have had this opportunity to do something for her.

The boring bits:

A4 paper.

Drawn almost entirely with 0.3mm HB mechanical pencil, with some 0.5mm B for the darkest parts of the eyes and nose.

Background drawn with 6B graphite stick and 0.7mm and 0.3mm HB mechanical pencils. Not blended - since I find this gives the most control, and accounts for the texture of the paper. Takes ages though!
