Shark Week marches on with today's shark, the Pelagic Thresher! Again, this is for ~lexuswolf 's Shark Week Sketch Jam .Dear god, these things are so freakin' cute. They're like... the fennec foxes of the shark world, or something. BIG OL' EYES, teeny li'l face, comically over-sized pectoral fins, and of course, that ridiculous tail. Perfect recipe for d'awwww.
Like many sharks, threshers take a long time to reach sexual maturity, and only produce a couple of pups at a time. Therefore, they are considered vulnerable by the IUCN as the population cannot withstand high levels of exploitation.

It's funny that you say they're like the fennec foxes of the shark world... According to Wikipedia: "The genus and family name derive from the Greek word alopex, meaning fox. Indeed the long-tailed thresher shark, Alopias vulpinus, is named the fox shark by some authorities."

To get the texture I pasted a metal texture over the drawing and set it to "overlay." Pretty simple, really :3
