Description
Formed as the 1919 general strike gave way to open war, the First Detroit were made up of defecting soldiers and socialist stalwarts in equal measure, being instrumental to the Detroit Committee in seizing and holding power in the city. The unit itself would strangely enough become a De Leonist grouping in a city primarily dominated by the mainline Debsian SPA, becoming yet another example of the strange gathering of Communists, Anarchists, Bellamyites, Moderate Socialists and even Georgists that made up the ranks of the American Reds.
