Coming from a kind family in Manehattan, Social Butterfly always tries to help ponies/griffons/changelings/etc whenever possible.

Leaving home for a job in Ponyville, he brought some spare parts to tinker with. This ended up saving his life after he lost his balance by a gulch, although his left forehoof was badly injured in the fall. Knowing what to do with the parts, he fashioned himself a biomechanical hoof and keeps trying to help whenever he can. Though young foals stare in awe, he doesn't mind.
