Description Meet the Baileen Croc (Cetosuchus Mystax)

The Baileen Croc is a decendant of the Australian Saltwater Crocodile (Salty's) and lives 50 million years hence in the oceans around the Australian and Indian subcontinents. Baileen Crocs reach lenghts up to 40 feet but unlike it's ancestors, Baileen Crocs are a lot more gentle and feed on small fish and plankton. Baileen Crocs are also known as bearded Gators, because of the baileens in their mouths, which they use to filter plankton from the water. Despite their marine lifestyle, they still lay their eggs on land, like modern day sea turtles with as only difference that the new babies are being cared by the mother

I hope you guys like this beast ^^

Your designs for future creatures are interesting and creative, yet I have the nagging feeling that I've seen them somewhere before. Did you post this on any future creature forum by any chance?

Yes I've also posted them on the Speculative Evolution forum

Here's the link: [link]

My main topic there is Mission Wild Future

Wow, I actually made a similar design for my art major. Called it a Leviathan though.

I'm not sure if Crocs will make it into the future either.

Nice job! The flippers do remind me of that of the sea turtle's, so the egg-laying procedure does make more sense as the flippers would help in land propulsion. I'm still trying to think of an animal to evolve for your comic, but I'm not sure which would be best. Do you have any particular type of animal you want me to do (like a reptile, mammal, bird, fish, etc.?) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm glad you liked this future crocodile

If you're looking for suggestions, think about things as:

- A decendant of the modern Tapir which would grow to the size of a modern day elephant, but still with the short trunk of that of a Tapir and it would roam the Pampa's of Future South America and grasslands of future Asia. I've chosen the Tapir, because of all of the modern day Pachyderms (Mammals like Elephants, Rhino's, Hippo's and of course Tapirs), they have biggest chance to survive into the far future and because it resemble some of the early ancestors of the Elephant.

- An horse-sized flight-less decendant of feral chickens which roams the mountain ranges of Britain, the Mediteranean alps and the Neo-Himalaya's with a dense feathery white coat to withstand the cold. It would feed on moss and grass. I chose the chicken, since they are one of the most wide-spread birds in the world and are perfect survivors.

- A huge beaver which would be the size of a modern day Humpback Whale. The legs have evolved into flippers (Still equiped with grabbing claws) and they still remain their original head shape. These Whale like beavers roam the Atlantic Ocean and build floating nests which they make from the wood of a new breed of Ocean trees (Strange trees which grow on the ocean floor. I chose the beaver, because of all Mammals, rodents have the biggest chance to survive far into the future.

I hope this will give you enough ideas for future animals.

Michiel AKA SSJGarfield

Sea-beavers building floating nests? Now that's a fun idea!
