Description This is my entry for the weekly challenge.
I loved the picture that they supplied us with this week and wanted to do something a little different than what the picture implied.

When I was growing up, one of my favorite stories was the Velveteen Rabbit. For those of you who are not familiar with it, The Velveteen Rabbit is about a stuffed rabbit who dreams of being real. He is played with and loved and then eventually the boy gets ill and all his toys have to be gotten rid of. The rabbit and all the other toys are thrown out, but the rabbit was so loved that the faerie came down and turned him into a real rabbit. One day the boy sees the rabbit and is reminded of the toy he had in his younger years. There is more to it than that, but that is the short version of it. Anyway it was my favorite and this is kind of my tribute to that story.

The doll is lost in the woods by some little girl who loved her so and is so sad that she is gone. Because of that love the little doll is allowed to become real and to dance in the moonlight like she always dreamed of.

I hope you like it.
I have to give a HUGE thanks to who helped me when I was having trouble putting my finger on what was not quite right about this piece. It was a WIP and she gave me a very honest opinion on it and that made all the difference.

one thing i must say about this work is wow i love the way the ballet girl is blended to its ribbons and its sparkling magic sparkles that comes vividly to her body. The location of place of the manipulation is a great one to be chose because it fits entirely for the idea. One thing i scrutinized is that the roses on the right while looking at the monitor isn't blended really well to the grass or to the whole scene of the picture. Lowering it's opacity i think i can the trick for it to observed the color of the grass behind it. Bravo for your work

This image caught my eye pretty well, and I like where you went with it. The vision is clearly present, and it's something of an original piece (mostly with the elements added by the flower area in front). Your technique, however, leaves something to be desired.

While the composition of the image is good for shape, it needs a bit of work with colors. As it is, the grass and leaves in the bottom left, along with the trunk of the tree, draw far more attention than they deserve. Muting these colors or the complex pattern of the bark would help with this problem. The flowers and such on the bottom right need the attention, but the colors in this overlayed image are far more saturated than the background and make it look artificial.

Fair job overall. Good luck with your next works!

Thank you so much for taking the time to add a critique. I have grown a lot since doing this piece, but I always want to learn from things I have done. I have not done a lot with 3D rendered things and I want to learn how to work with them better. I find real pictures for some reason are easier to make work than rendered ones. It may be the pieces I have chosen or it may just be me and my lack of experience. I see what you mean about the tree trunk. I never thought of how the differences in the colors and textures not matching overall would draw attention away from the rest of the piece. I will continue to work on improving on this aspect of my work.

Thank you so much for your attention to this piece and your constructive comments. This is why I love the critique feature. It is definitely going to help many artists grow and get new perspectives. This is why I joined dA and why I love being here.

I figure you give credit where credit is due. If you give credit when you use a tutorial then you should definitely give credit when someone gives you great advice that really helps you out.

I really appreciate the time you took to give the critique you did.
