Description Mourey silently followed Vin and Lene into the small cave they had made into a Matriarch den. It was custom that he enter last; he honestly never even thought about it anymore. They had just finished listening to Ronin's report on the...Ferox. And Lene was already talking about it, mostly to herself probably, but Vin was listening intently and occasionally giving her input.

Mourey stayed quiet. He listened, taking in everything his sister and Matriarch said, thinking about what he would say out loud if he wasn't so...y'know, himself. None of the things they said were particularly groundbreaking; talk of using the cats inside Rome as an easily disposable army against Ferox, wiping out or kidnapping the loners to get them out of the way, etc. But one thing Ronin had said was itching in the back of Mourey's mind.

Finally, Lene told Vin, "We should rest now. We'll discuss our next move against these rats in the morning." Mourey had migrated to the cave's entrance, looking out at the Ferox territory again, past their small camp.

"Mourey? You've been quiet this whole time." Not that that was anything new. But maybe Lene could tell that something was bothering her brother.

"If I may?" he said.

"Proceed."

"Something Ronin said...about the Ferox. It's bothering me."

Lene scoffed. "The lioness? You doubt Ronin's ability to take her down? The damp sea air has gotten to your head, brother. She'll be fine."

"No, not her," Mourey explained. "She said...she said that the Ferox don't feed on humans? They don't attack humans at all, do they?"

Lene paused. Mourey kept staring out into the Ferox territories. "No, it doesn't seem as if they do."

"And Ronin said that our battle skills are far greater than theirs." Mourey sighed. "She watched a battle training session, she said."

Lene said nothing, waiting for her Advisor to explain himself. But the words were just reaching him, and he was getting far more worried as he kept thinking about it.

"So who are they training to fight?"

A little afterthought of Target in Sight by Tenebra-Fengari (btw, I love their depiction of the Olum. Love.)

It's important to remember that the Olum and Hunters know nothing about each others' existence. What will happen when our two villainous factions collide? We shall see...
