Description I made this cute little dragon from some awesome sparkly scaly fleece that my mom bought me -- perfect for making dragons!
She has a wire armature so that she can be posed -- she can stand up, hang from trees, and even hitch a piggyback ride! (I'll be posting more pics of her posed soon)
She's about 3 feet long with a 4-ish foot wingspan.
Made out of an original pattern -- I hate wiring wings.

Patterns for wyvern dragons of this style can now be found on my etsy! [link]

The best material is always hidden in some place like that

I will go to the bank tomorrow, and put some $ in my account. That way, when i pay w/Paypal, it will take the paymenet from my bank account.

cool, and I will get the pattern up soon!

I think paying w/Paypal, through Etsy would be great. That's how I pay for things I buy on Etsy. I'm the kind of person who either: A. Pays online w/Paypal, or B. Draws out cash, and pays w/cash at garage sales and stores. I used to use my debit card, then just quit using it. So, I forgot to activate my new debit card. I know it won't work now. I need to go to the bank and get a new one, I guess.

awesome! I just finished the instructions, and I'll get a copy of the pattern done soon.

I'm in no hurry, so, take your time. I don't have a credit card in my own name. It has both my husband's name and my name on it, and I'm only allowed to use it for emergencies. And, I don't think I ever activated my new debit card. Would you take a money order?

I think I may have my etsy account set up to accept payments via paypal now, we'll probably have to test it out to make sure. but I think you'll be able to buy the pattern through my etsy with your paypal account.

What do you want to charge for it? And, I would like the pattern to be unaltered/as it is. I'm good w/the size of the Wyvern. I LIKE BIG!!!! The BIGGER the BETTER I always say! I would prefer a mailed version actually.

StarDapple In reply to gotgrey [2013-04-04 17:28:38 +0000 UTC]

Awesome, mailing the original design would actually be a lot simpler, I'd just need to trace the pieces of the original pattern. I'd probably use the paper which I usually use for patterns which is butcher paper (you can iron the waxy side onto the back side of your fabric and it will stick to the fabric while you cut out the pieces, then pull it off with no harm to the fabric -- much easier than pinning or tracing the pieces on)

would $15-20 work for you, possibly plus shipping cost?

gotgrey In reply to StarDapple [2013-04-04 18:04:38 +0000 UTC]

$15-$20 plus shipping would work for me. Do you have Paypal? I do, and would like to pay that way. I would have to put some $ in my account. I haven't used it in forever!

StarDapple In reply to gotgrey [2013-04-04 18:16:25 +0000 UTC]

I don't think I have a functioning paypal account right now, but I think what I'll do is put it up on my etsy account and you can buy one from there using a credit/debit card, I might end up selling a couple patterns that way.

Right now I'm working on writing up directions for sewing up the pattern, I'll trace a new copy when I get home. It might take a few days for me to get it ready to put up.

gotgrey [2013-04-04 16:05:50 +0000 UTC]

She is fantastic! Would you consider selling a copy of the pattern? I LOVE making dragons, and always have a hard time finding cool, not extremely difficult to make patterns. And, you hardly ever, if ever, find Wyvern patterns.

StarDapple In reply to gotgrey [2013-04-04 16:17:06 +0000 UTC]

I might, or maybe a variation of it -- how much would you be willing to pay for one? And would you like it sent as a computer file or mailed?
This one is quite big, so if you'd want it e-mailed or something it'd either be shrinked or some pieces would have to be split into parts and taped together after being printed out.

Wow, you did an amazing job on her I've never seen fleece like this before. I'd love to get some if I ever find any!

As for the name, I don't know if you came up with one or not, but I'll say that "Opal" fits her

Sorry I can't help you with where to buy it, I found this at a thrift store.

Thanks for the name too! I might have one for her, but I'm not sure yet

She's adorable~ I love that fabric and her sweet face. Nice work! How big is she?

StarDapple In reply to LadyTemeraire [2013-02-23 17:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
I measured her before but I forget the exact measurements, something like 2 feet long with a 3-3 1/2 foot wingspan. So she's pretty big

Very nice dragon and exceptional crafting! The design is fun and I really like those "whiskers" - not easy to do!
Where where wheeeere did your mom get that scaly fleece? That's definitely something I could use! Did she get it on the internet or perhaps through a store? Please ask her for me, if you would!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StarDapple In reply to Skylanth [2013-02-23 00:12:16 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!!

She actually bought it at a local thrift store so I really have no idea where it was originally bought from -- maybe search the internet and see if any sites have something like it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Skylanth In reply to StarDapple [2013-02-23 17:57:32 +0000 UTC]

Nooo, the untraceable thrift store find! Well, I'll search online and see if I can find it. It IS fleece, right? Not a stretchy lycra fabric printed with scales? I've seen that before. I recognize the tie-dye style purple you used for the underside of the dragon, though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StarDapple In reply to Skylanth [2013-02-23 18:10:49 +0000 UTC]

yes, I know! I hope you can find it; I might search too and see if I can find somewhere that sells it because it is just amazing! It's definitely fleece, but with scales on it -- I'd never seen anything like it before my mom found this stuff. lol, yeah I got the purple at Joann's

StarDapple In reply to AnimalArtKingdom [2013-02-21 15:55:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I really love this fabric and can't wait to design some more dragons and such to make with it, right now I'm working on a small skinnier wyvern-type dragon using the same blue, and probably either mottled blue fleece or white for the accents.
I also want to get some more pics up of this wyvern being posed, but my computer's being stupid about letting me submit deviations

I am so broke right now. I'm saving up whatever I can to use for making change at a craft show on march 2nd. I missed some work this month after I fell down the stairs and it set me back so badly on my bills and college debt. ;-;

But my god maybe for my birthday in December or as a gift to myself when I have some extra money or something...I would so have that thing riding my back around the house all day.

DeathInTheReaper In reply to StarDapple [2013-02-19 02:49:55 +0000 UTC]

I am a plushie hoarder. I can't ever have enough. Of course as I get older my taste in plushies and such things has geared toward more expensive pieces. How much would something like this one cost? Just so I know for the future.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StarDapple In reply to DeathInTheReaper [2013-02-19 02:52:37 +0000 UTC]

lol, I've always collected plushies too -- and now I make them
I think one would probably be around $60-70 since she's a pretty big plush and she has the wire armature too, which takes more work and material.

DeathInTheReaper In reply to StarDapple [2013-02-19 02:57:27 +0000 UTC]

That's reasonable for something that big, and I figured it wouldn't be cheap. But to get something custom...I think I'd die. lol Hopefully someday I can commission you to make one. I will show it off to everyone I know.

StarDapple In reply to DeathInTheReaper [2013-02-19 03:05:30 +0000 UTC]
