IFX-45R Advance (Super) Aquila

The Sentry-Lambda IFX-45 Aquila is a state of the art prototype sixth-generation jet fighter that uses advanced stealth technology. Being developed by the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) Research and Development for research purposes. The main contractor of the project is the alliance of Sentry Aerospace Industries and Lambda Integrated Defense Systems. The same cooperation company in building the supersonic VVIP / Presidential aircraft, the VC-711 Cruiser One [link] Advance AWACS ER-70 Guardian Angel [link] and N-600V MRCS Assault Archelon, or AC-63S Calamity gunship [link]

Many consider this aircraft to be Indonesia's first domestically made stealth fighter. IFX-45 is an acronym meaning "Indonesian Fighter – X", 45 means tribute for Indonesian years of Independence (1945). The aircraft's name is Aquila which means the genus of true eagles.

Design:

Although most of information about the Aquila is classified, it is believed that it will be stealthy, have the ability to supercruise, be outfitted with the next generation of air-to-air, air-to-surface, and air-to-ship missiles, incorporate a fix-mounted Advance Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) called the 'Multi-function RF Sensor', which is intended to have broad spectrum agility, capabilities for electronic countermeasures (ECM), electronic support measures (ESM), communications functions, and possibly even microwave weapon functions. Also featured with an advance "Artificial Intelligent" Main Computer.

According to Lambda, the new radar and AI will reduce both pilot and recon/navigator load, and the aircraft will have a new data link to share information between manned aircraft and unmanned combat aircraft vehicle (UCAV). Among the features the IFX-45 is to have is a fly-by-optics flight control system, which by substituting optical fibers for wires, allows data to be transferred faster and with immunity to electromagnetic disturbance.

For minimizing radar cross-section (RCS) and drag is also shown by the provision of main weapons bay in the center fuselage, between the engine nacelles. Each is estimated to be between 4.9-5.1 m long. The main bays are augmented by bulged "Weapon Pack" bays at the wing root.
