Description Portrait in acrylics from a photograph by =dincturk . (The photo received a DD about a month ago, although I'd started the portrait before then.) =dincturk calls the boy a magician, and büyücü is the Turkish word for that. (I hope. Don't betray me now, Google translate! )

By the way, tilt your head/computer screen until the colors aren't hideously oversaturated. You know the horrors a scanner will commit...I tried to photoshop it into accuracy, but with limited results.

His eyes trouble me. But this is not unusual as I am troubled easily. Very neat work.

Hm, why do they trouble you? (Thanks!)

He seems sort of sad and angry all at once to me. An almost too hard look for a child I guess. It makes me wish to comfort him, and find out why he is angry.

Ah, I see. =dincturk often takes photos of street children, this boy among them. I suppose I'm glad that I captured this emotion.

Goodness! You've got real talent! I recognised this instantly! I saw the original photo back then and I have to say, you've done it great justice. Not an iota of intensity is lost from the boy's gaze.

Thanks very much! I think it's funny that you said I didn't push the darks too much, because *not* doing any darks and being extremely timid was my biggest problem for YEARS.
