Owner of Sweet Apple Incorporated and wife of Rarity, Applejack is much colder and more distant from her family since the fall of Cloudsdale, pressured into her work by the split of their friends and the cut off of trades from Cloudsdale, she ended up making some tough decisions and dismantled the CMC clubhouse, resulting in a rift between her and Applebloom that never really fixed itself. She's generally more cold and calculating than her TFIM counterpart, being a businessmare and a schemer.
Her divergence begins further back than the others, from the point where Lightning Dust was sent back. Since Lightning Dust pretended to be Sassaflash in the TFIM canon to get her info on Rainbow Dash, and caused the breakup between Caramel and her, in the Lightningverse, Caramel and Sassaflash stayed together, and as a result, Applejack and Caramel never got together.When Twilight got the letter from Dash telling her that she would be gone for the next two years, Twilight did exactly what Twilight does in every situation where she doesn't see a solution; freak the fuck out. She fell into researching everything she could get her hooves on, while her friends in ponyville tried to get her out of her funk, while Applejack brought her to the Apple Family Reunion, the reunion was ruined by Twilight's meticulous nitpicking and commanding instead of Applejack's, and this unintentionally set a wedge in their friendship. Applejack forgave her, but it was rocky for quite a while between them. She eventually started up a business venture with Rarity as a side operation during a particularly harsh winter, and something really sparked between the two, leading to some interesting situations. Trenderhoof's flirting with Applejack made Rarity realize how jealous she was when he did so, and 'Simple Ways' happened in a different way, instead of Rarity and Applejack competing because of Trenderhoof, Trenderhoof and Rarity both fought over Applejack. They got together soon after that, and they ended up getting engaged later, Applejack becoming more distant from her family roots as Rarity helped her become a businessmare. She tried to keep the apple orchard up, but after Applejack backed the Flim Flam brother's tonic, she lost business when the ruse was revealed and had to cut down several apple trees, including the CMC clubhouse's tree. Applebloom never really forgave her for that, and as a result they are distant. She loves her three foals (1 daughter and twin sons) and tries to raise them right, but she is often accidentally harsh to them or neglects them for her business.
